Renewal agreement: Effective Feb. 1, 2021 to Jan. 31, 2025. Signed on March 13, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Feb. 1, 2021: 2.25%

Effective Feb. 1, 2022: 3% + $0.20

Effective Feb. 1, 2023: 3% + $0.20

Effective Feb. 1, 2024: 3% + $0.20

Shift premium: Time and one-half until 8-hour period is over when employee is recalled to work before 8 hour free-from-work period elapses. $0.30 per hour for all shifts between 5:59 pm and 1:59 a.m.

Paid holidays: 12 days, including National Truth and Reconciliation Day, B.C. Day.

Vacations with pay: 1 day for each month worked, maximum 10 days, to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 21 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked after 40 hours per week or 8 hours per day. Double time for work after 12 hours per day.

Meal allowance: $10 for employees who work more than 12 consecutive hours on non-highway runs, exclusive of 13-hour modified shifts.

Medical benefits: Employer will provide comprehensive health and welfare plan. Employees will pay 1% per month of regular earnings into plan.

Vision: Coverage of $200 (previously $150 every 24 months) every 24 months (expenses reimbursed at 80%, maximum $150). Effective July 1, 2023: $250 every 24 months.

Sick leave: 48 hours per year. All unused sick time will be paid out in December at 100% of employee’s current rate of pay.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, parents or stepparents of employees and spouse, children, sister, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, any relative who resides with employee). 1 day for death of immediate brother’s or sister’s child or spouse’s brother’s or sister’s child.

Seniority – recall rights: 180 days when employee is promoted and remains outside bargaining unit; 12 months after layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of work at time and one-half.

Probationary period: 180 days from date of hiring or 520 hours, whichever is least.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year for letters of reprimand or discipline up to and including 1-day suspension; 2 years for all others in excess of earlier documents.

Safety shoes: $75 for black CSA-approved shoes or boots once every 2 years.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will furnish and pay for uniforms and equipment for employees as required. All uniform items, including shirts, will be replaced on 1-to-1 basis when deemed appropriate by employer. All road-crew employees (armoured and service) will be supplied with bullet-resistant garment that must be worn while on duty; replacement vests will be provided upon expiry.

Lead Hand: $28.33 rising in 2 steps to $30.66

Route Custodian 1 year: $23.79 rising in 2 steps to $25.84

Route Custodian 2 years: $24.97 rising in 2 steps to $27.10

Route Custodian 3 years: $27.73 rising in 2 steps to $30.03

Armoured Driver 1 year: $23.13 rising in 2 steps to $25.14

Armoured Driver 2 years: $23.99 rising in 2 steps to $26.06

Armoured Driver 3 years: $26.83 rising in 2 steps to $29.08

Guard 1 year: $22.44 rising in 2 steps to $24.41

Guard 2 years: $23.30 rising in 2 steps to $25.33

Guard 3 years: $25.92 rising in 2 steps to $28.11

Editor’s notes: Paid education leave: Employer will pay $0.03 per hour per employee for all compensated hours into Unifor leadership training fund for paid education leave. Daily meal allowances: $52 for any out-of-town run as daily meal allowance for each day of run. Range time: Employer will pay twice per year, maximum 2 hours of straight-time for practice or qualification with qualified instructor on company range and will provide adequate ammunition as part of training time. Scheduled range time will be paid at straight-time. On call: All employees on pager shifts will be guaranteed minimum $50 per day including weekends. Employees collecting $50 pager rate will be required to carry activated pager for minimum of 7 hours. $150 for employees carrying pager on Christmas day.
