Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. Signed on June 30, 2020.
Shift premium: 12.5% above level 3.4 rate for team leaders. $5.62 per hour (previously $5.53 per hour) for local employment adjustment premium.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 2 weeks, to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 12 years. Employees who have vacation entitlement of more than 2 weeks or 4% will have option of rolling over maximum of 1 week or 2% to following years’ allotment, (no cascading).
Overtime: Time and one-half for all time worked on first day during days off; double time for time worked on subsequent second or third consecutive day off.
Meal allowance: $15 for employee working 3 hours of overtime beyond regular shift.
Medical benefits: Employer pays $267.38 per month of premiums of total $322.38 per month for Prairie Teamsters Health and Welfare Plan, with less than 3 years of service. Employer pays $320 per month of premiums of total $380 per month after 3 years of service. Alberta health and wellness coverage will be paid 50% by employer and 50% by employee, for all full-time employees who have reached level 3 CATSA certification, and have completed 3 years of service.
Sick leave: 6 days or 48 hours per year, after 3 months of service. Unused personal days will be paid out on second pay period of April (calculated as of March 31) of each year.
Pension: Employer will contribute $1.25 per hour (previously $1.15 per hour) for each hour worked for all employees who have attained level 3 CATSA certification to Prairie Teamsters pension plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, spouse, common-law spouse, children, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother- in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepchildren, stepparents, grandchildren, grandparents, any relative who resides with employee). Additional 7 consecutive days, without pay, to attend funeral if funeral occurs outside of 700-kilometre radius of employee’s normal work location.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at applicable overtime rate (employee must have minimum 1-hour break between end of original shift and beginning of call-in shift).
Probationary period: Employee will be required to successfully complete screening officer training and obtain level 3 CATSA certification following which probationary period will continue for up to 75 calendar days (period will be extended by equivalent number of calendar days of any absence by employee).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for disciplinary records.
Uniforms/clothing: All uniforms, when supplied by employer, will be without cost to employee. For winter bridge and ramp duties, during extreme winter conditions, employees will be permitted to wear own clothing provided it meets following conditions : boots, must be black and polishable; gloves, must be either solid navy or solid black in colour; toques, must be either solid navy or solid black in colour. Employer will pay $15 for every 4 weeks of work to employee as cleaning allowance.

Editor’s notes: Marriage leave: Employer will provide maximum 5 consecutive unpaid days off for employee to attend own wedding. Parking allowance: Employer will pay 100% of staff parking for current employees at Fort McMurray Airport. Employees hired after April 26, 2016, will contribute 20% to cost of staff parking which will not be increased more than $10 per employee during life of agreement. Union/industry advance fund: Employer will contribute $0.05 per regular hour worked for each employee to Teamsters union/industry advancement fund.
