Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2021. Signed on Aug. 24, 2018.
Shift premium: $1.25 per hour for any work performed between 9:50 p.m. and 4:50 a.m. $3 per hour for lead-hands. 4 hours of regular pay for work performed on Christmas Day.
Paid holidays: 9 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years,
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 50 hours per week, 10 hours per day, averaged over 3-week cycle.
Medical benefits: Coach, shuttle operators: Employer pays $1.62 per hour (previously $1.55 per hour) into Operating Engineers Health and Wellness Trust Fund. Effective July 2020: $1.70 per hour. Probationary employees: $1.59 per hour.
Pension: Coach operators: Employer pays $3 per hour (previously $2.50 per hour) into Operating Engineers’ Pension Plan. Effective July 2020: $3.25 per hour. Shuttle operators: Employer pays $2.65 per hour (previously $2.50 per hour) into Operating Engineers’ Pension Plan. Effective July 2020: $2.85 per hour. Probationary employees: $2.56 per hour.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner (regardless of gender), mother, father, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren). For death of family member not covered above, employee may make representation for funeral leave outlining reasons why it should be granted.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 consecutive months.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 3 shirts, 2 ties, 2 pants, name tag and on semi-annual basis, standard company jacket.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase):
Coach operator: $32.45 rising 2 steps to $32.95
Probationary employees (first 90 days): $31.68
Shuttle operator: $29.15 rising 2 steps to $29.50
Probationary employees (first 90 days): $27.60
Editor’s notes: Sub-contracting: Employer may use owner/operators or outside contractors on required basis to supplement regular workforce and to provide additional help on required basis. Employer will pay $90 per month permit fee to union for any bus with operator engaged in sub-contracted capacity, for any period beyond 6 working days per month.
