Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2025. Ratified on Oct. 12, 2021. Signed on Oct. 15, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Shuttle

Effective 2021: 2.7%

Effective 2022: 1%

Effective 2023: 1%

Effective 2024: CPI up to 2.5%

Coach

Effective 2021: 1.9%

Effective 2022: 1%

Effective 2023: 1%

Effective 2024: CPI up to 2.5%

Shift premium: $1 per hour for all hours worked as chief job steward. $1.25 per hour for any work performed between 9:50 p.m. and 4:50 a.m. $3 per hour for lead-hands. 4 hours regular pay for work performed on Christmas Day.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked after 50 in 1 week; 10 hours in 1 day, averaged over 3-week cycle. Time and one-half for hours worked after 10 in 1 day.

Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $1.59 per hour or $1.70 per hour (previously $1.65 per hour) to Operating Engineers’ Health and Wellness Trust Fund.

Pension: Employer will contribute $3 per hour rising 2 steps to $3.10 per hour to Operating Engineers’ Pension Plan (OEPP) for shuttle employees. Employer will contribute $3.40 per hour rising 2 steps to $3.50 per hour to OEPP for coach employees. Employer will contribute $1.59 per hour to OEPP for new shuttle, new coach employees.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner (regardless of gender), mother, father, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren).

Seniority – recall rights: 24 consecutive months after layoff; 90 days for employee who has been promoted beyond scope of collective agreement.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours when operator is called in for any scheduled or unscheduled work or on scheduled days off.

Probationary period: All employees will have completed probationary period on first day following 90 calendar days of employment.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for operational purposes; 24 months for safety purposes.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply 3 shirts, 2 ties, 2 pants, name tag each year. Employer will supply standard company jacket or boots of equivalent value every 2 years.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 4.6% increase):

Shuttle: $30.30 rising 3 steps to $31.68

Coach: $33.58 rising 3 steps to $35.11

Shuttle (new employee): $27.60

Coach (new employee): $31.68

Editor’s notes: Sub-contracting: Employer will forward $90-per-month permit fee to union for any bus with operator engaged in sub-contracted capacity for any period beyond 6 working days per month. Medical examinations: Any employer request for medical examination by employer-selected physician and employer will pay for physical or medical examinations, lawfully ordered drug and alcohol tests, eye examinations, mental capability tests for work-related issues and for time lost as result during regular working hours. Compulsory courses: Employer will pay for post-hire compulsory courses required by employer, at regular hourly rates currently P.D.I. (professional driver’s improvement) courses annually; plant site indoctrination; any other training that is requirement by employer or client/owner as condition of employment. Local living allowance (LOA): $1,000 per month to existing drivers meeting defined parameters of living allowance. All new employees who are entitled to LOA will receive $600 per month for duration of collective agreement.
