Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Signed on Aug. 30, 2019.

Shift premium: 25% for actual time worked on land-based radio antenna towers 150 metres or higher; while suspended from crane in mast box or boatswain’s chair; more than 9 metres above base of ship’s masts where no scaffolding is arranged; repair work on jetty cranes which is higher than 9 metres above crane base and no scaffolding exists; for installation work on buildings, ships or structures 9 metres above ground; erecting or removing staging on outboard side of fixed structure supporting CIWS and forward end of AFT CEROS on Halifax Class ships. 25% for submarine trials. $10 when employee transfers to ship, submarine or barge (not berthed) from helicopter, ship’s boat, yard craft or auxiliary vessel.

Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 1 additional day in each year that is recognized to be provincial or civic holiday where employee is employed or in any area where no such day is recognized as provincial or civic holiday: first Monday in August.

Vacations with pay: 6.67 hours per month to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days per month after 8 years, 22 days after 15 years, 23 days after 17 years, 25 days after 18 years, 27 days after 25 years, 30 days after 28 years. Employee may carry over maximum 120 hours.

Overtime: Double time for all hours worked after 8 hours in continuous period or after 8 hours in 1 day, maximum 16 hours in continuous period of work; double time for all hours worked on day of rest, maximum 16 hours. Triple time for each hour worked after 16 hours in continuous period or after 16 hours in any 24-hour period; triple time for all hours worked by employee who is recalled to work before expiration of 9-hour period of rest for employee who works 15 hours or more in 24-hour period. Employee may request compensatory leave with pay in lieu of overtime payment, maximum credit of 120 hours straight-time pay per year. Accumulated compensatory leave not used by March 31 of each year will normally be paid.

Meal allowance: $12 after employee has worked initial period of 3 hours of overtime and for each subsequent 4-hour period of overtime worked. Employee will be given time off, with pay, to eat within one-half hour immediately prior to regular meal period or within one-half hour of termination of regular meal period and employee will be paid at applicable overtime rate for time worked when employer requires employee to work through regular meal period.

Sick leave: 10 hours for each month in which employee is pay for 80 hours of work.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, spouse, common-law spouse resident with employee, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of employee, foster child, grandchild, grandparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in law, relative residing in employee’s household). Employee may also be given 3 additional days’ for travel related to death. Leave may be taken in single period or may be taken in 2 periods. 1 day for death of his or her brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grandparent of spouse.

Call-in pay: Employee will be paid greater of compensation at applicable overtime rate for time worked or compensation equivalent to 4 hours’ pay at straight-time rate. Employee will be given $12 for each 4-hour period of call-in.

Severance: 2 weeks’ pay to start; 3 weeks’ pay for employees with 10 years of employment; 4 weeks’ pay for employees with twenty 20 years of employment, plus 1 week’s pay for each succeeding completed year of continuous employment on first layoff. 1 week’s for each year of employment on second or subsequent layoffs.

Editor’s notes: 1-time leave entitlement: Employees will be credited 1-time entitlement of 24 hours of vacation leave on first day of month following anniversary of employee’s first year of service.
