Renewal agreement: Effective March 31, 2018 to March 31, 2020. Signed on March 31, 2018.
Shift premium: Time and one-half for all work on seventh consecutive evening or night shifts (or any combination of evening or night shifts); double time for eighth and subsequent shifts. $2.30 per hour for each hour worked between 4 p.m. on one day and 8 a.m. on following day. $2.55 per hour for each hour worked between 12:01 on Saturday and midnight on Sunday. $82 per month to employee who has been awarded ART in laboratory or AC in radiology.
Paid holidays: 8 days, plus 1 additional holiday per year.
Vacations with pay: 1 2/3 days per month to start, 4 weeks after 1 year, 5 weeks after 10 years, 6 weeks after 25 years. Employees may carry forward days into following year (20 days, 25 days, 30 days, depending on annual eligible days earned).
Overtime: Paid for all work after regular hours, on daily or biweekly basis. May be banked for time off, but must be requested within 72 hours of conclusion of work. Maximum 70 hours may be carried forward to another year.
Meal allowance: Meal or $6provided employee works 3or more hours of overtime in total in 1 shift.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.
Vision: 80% coverage, maximum $70, for eye examinations performed by ophthalmologist or optometrist where Medicare plan does not cover such services. Once per year for dependent children younger than 18, once every 2 calendar years for other insured persons. 100% of maximum covered expense of $150 for single-vision lenses and frames, $200 for bifocal lenses and frames and $250 for trifocal and progressive adaptive lenses frames once every 3 years (once every year for dependent children younger than 18). 100% of maximum covered expense of $250 every 2 years for contact lenses when prescribed for severe corneal scarring, keratoconus, aphakia and if cornea is impaired so that visual acuity cannot be improved to at least to 20/40 level in better eye with eyeglasses. 1 pair of eyeglasses when prescribed by ophthalmologist following non-refractive eye surgery, to 100% of lifetime covered eligible expense of $200; 50% of cost of visual training or remedial therapy.
Sick leave: 2 days per month; 1 day per month for employees hired after May 4, 2004. Maximum 480 days per 20-year period; 1,800 hours for employees hired after May 4, 2004.
AD&D: 2 times salary, minimum $10,000, maximum $1,000,000.
Life insurance: 2 times salary, minimum $10,000, maximum $1,000,000.
Pension: Public Service Pension Plan. Employer will make available money purchase pension plan for employees who are not eligible to participate in Public Service Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of mother, father, brother, sister, child, spouse, common-law spouse, legal guardian, grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law or near relative living in same household. 1 day for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Employee will be given 4 days if death of relative outside province. Additional 2days in cases where extraordinary circumstances prevail.
Seniority – recall rights: 2years.
Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay at time and one half. If call-in exceeds 3 hours, employee will be paid rate of time and one half for all hours worked.
Probationary period: 3months (must include 65 days of work).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18months.
Severance: Pay equal to amount obtained by multiplying number of completed years of employment by weekly salary, maximum 20 weeks’ pay.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide minimum 3 new lab coats per year and launder clothing. When employees must wear uniforms, employee has choice of accepting uniform supplied or receiving allowance of $155 to purchase uniform of employee’s choice, paid on first pay period in December.
