Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2024. Signed on April 1, 2022.
Shift premium: $1.75 per hour for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. $1.50 per hour for all hours worked on Saturday or Sunday.
Paid holidays: 13 days, including New Brunswick Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month to start, 1 2/3 days per month after 6 years, 1 5/6 days per month after 17 years, 2 1/12 days per month after 18 years, 2.25 days per month after 28 years, 2.5 days per month after 29 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours worked in excess of normal scheduled daily hours; double time thereafter. Time and one-half for first 4 hours worked on first day of rest; double time thereafter. Time and one-half for first 9 hours worked on first day of rest for firefighters; double time thereafter. Double time for each hour of overtime worked after 16 hours of work in any 24-hour period. May be taken as compensatory leave, replenishable to maximum of 130 hours.
Meal allowance: $13.50 (previously $13) for meal employee required to work overtime and who works at least 3 hours before or after scheduled shift. Additional allowance will be paid for employee works overtime continuously extending 4 hours or more.
Medical benefits: Employers pays 100% of premiums. Employer will provide $70 per month (previously $60 per month) for health-care allowance.
Dental: Employers pays 100% of premiums.
Vision: Coverage of $200 per person every 24 months.
Sick leave: 1.25 days for month.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premium for coverage of 70% of current monthly salary, maximum $8,000.
Pension: GMIAA DB plan for employees hired before Sept. 1, 1997; DC plan for all other employees.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (parent, stepparent, foster-parent, spouse, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of employee, grandchild, parent-in-law, child-in-law, grandparent, relative residing in employee’s household). 1 day death of sibling-in-law. Employee may be given maximum 3 days’ travel leave, with pay, to attend funeral when distances warrant.
Seniority – recall rights: 2 years after layoffs.
Call-in pay: greater of 4 hours’ pay at applicable overtime rate or applicable rate of overtime compensation for time worked.
Probationary period: 6 months (further 6 months may be extended, maximum 12 months, to allow for certification to be completed for firefighters).
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for document or written statement related to disciplinary action.
Severance: 2 week’s pay for first year of service; 1 weeks’ pay for each subsequent year thereafter, maximum 30 weeks’ pay.
Safety shoes: $175 per year for protective footwear which meets CSA standards.
Uniforms/clothing: Employees will be provided with rainwear (hats, coats, pants and boots). Employer will supply employees with 1 lined winter parka every 5 years.
