Shift premium: $2 per hour (previously $1.75 per hour) when majority of shift falls between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $2.25 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2021: $2.50 per hour. $3 per hour (previously $2.75 per hour) when majority of shift falls between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $3.25 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2021: $3.50 per hour. $1.75 per hour (previously $1.50 per hour) when majority of shift falls between 3 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Monday. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $2 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2021: $2.25 per hour. $0.65 per hour for licensed practical nurse assigned by employer to act as preceptor for students in licensed practical nurse program, as recognized by College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta. $1 per hour charge pay for LPN on duty from Friday at 5 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 10 days after 1 year, 15 days after 4 years, 20 days after 10 years, 25 days after 16 years, 30 days after 25 years. Full-time employees with vacation entitlement of 20 days or more may request that employer buys back 5 days of vacation time per year. Payment may be taken as cash payment or may be deposited in employee’s RRSP account.
Overtime: Double time for all work after 7.5 or 8 hours per day or for 37.5 hours per week.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.
Dental: 80% reimbursement of basic services. 50% reimbursement of major, orthodontic services.
Sick leave: 1 day per month of employment, maximum credit of 20 days.
Pension: Employer will continue employer-administered RRSP. Employer will match contributions of participating employees, maximum 3.25%, into employee’s RRSP.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of spouse, common-law spouse, fiancé, legal guardian, child, stepchild, parent, spouse’s parent, stepparent, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, grandchild, individual for whom employee has legal guardianship responsibilities. Additional 2 days for travel more than 300 kilometres 1-way. Leave may be extended by maximum 2 additional days where extenuating circumstances warrant. 1 day to attend funeral of relative not listed; 3 hours to attend funeral of close friend.
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months; 24 months for sick leaves.
Call-in pay: Overtime rate for all hours worked or 2 hours at basic rate of pay, whichever is greater for maintenance employees. Employee will be reimbursed for kilometrage from residence to work-site and return.
Probationary period: 488 hours worked for employees working 7.5-hour shifts; 520 hours worked for employees working 8-hour shifts.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
