Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2026. Signed on May 10, 2021.
Shift premium: $2 per hour for any heavy-duty mechanic who holds valid commercial-vehicle inspection certificate. $1 per hour for any trailer mechanic who holds valid commercial vehicle inspection certificate. $1.50 per hour for all shifts commencing between 2:59 p.m. and 4:59 a.m. for regular dock and city pickup and delivery drivers and maintenance shop employees. $1.50 per hour for lead-man (chargehand).
Paid holidays: 11 days (employees in Northwest Territories will only observe Aboriginal Day and not Alberta Family Day and vice-versa). Employees will be entitled to 1 provincial-wide or territorial holiday declared by civic governments.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 9 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 25 years.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums.
Vision: Coverage of $300 per 24-month period.
AD&D: Coverage of $50,000 (previously $40,000).
Life insurance: Coverage of $50,000 (previously $40,000).
Pension: Employer will contribute $3.90 per hour to Prairie Teamsters Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (employee’s spouse, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, grandfathers, grandmother, son, daughter, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepsons, stepdaughters, grandchildren).
Seniority – recall rights: 30 calendar days when employee transfers from 1 unit to another unit (if specific job that employee transfers to is discontinued within 180 calendar days and there is no alternate work in unit for employee, employee may return to former unit and maintain previous seniority status). 12 months after layoffs; 18 months after 5 years of service.
Probationary period: First 45 days worked.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for written reprimands, warning letters.
Safety shoes: $200 every 12 months (previously $125 every 12 months) for CSA-approved boots. To purchase higher quality boot, employee may combine 2 years of allowance.
Uniforms/clothing: Any employee physically handling substantial volumes of fish, meat, frozen butter, hides, creosoted commodities, spun glass, lamp black, barbed wire, acids, dirty oil drums, ore concentrates in bulk, will be provided with gloves, rubber, leather aprons and either coveralls or smocks for handling of specific commodity. Maintenance shop employees, employer-established hostlers will be provided with 5 pairs of clean coveralls per week. Employer will provide insulated coveralls and raincoats for all yard employees and employees performing deck work operations.
Tool allowance: $500 per year for required tools per year for mechanics, apprentices.

Editor’s notes: Marriage leave: Employer will provide, maximum 5 consecutive unpaid days off for employee to attend own wedding. Personal leave: Employees will be given 5 personal days per year. Employees who have completed probationary period will be paid 8 hours pay for each of first 3 of 5 personal days per year. Linehaul drivers will be compensated 10 hours of pay for each applicable day. Mental-health awareness: Employer will promote mental-health awareness of employees in workplace. Employer will participate in cost-sharing of CMHA Safe and Sound seminar, maximum $1,500 once per term of agreement. Northern-living allowance: $60 per month for all employees who reside in Northwest Territories.
