Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2015, to March 31, 2020. Signed on Jan. 28, 2016.
Wage adjustments:
Effective April 1, 2016: 3%
Effective April 1, 2017: 2%
Effective April 1, 2018: 1%
Effective April 1, 2019: 1%
Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for all hours between 4 p.m. and midnight. $0.70 per hour for all hours between midnight and 8 a.m.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 2 years, 5 weeks after 7 years, 6 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks and 2 days after 18 years, 7 weeks and 1 day after 22 years. One-half day may be added for travel time.
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours in excess of regular hours. Double time for all subsequent hours or all hours on second or subsequent day of rest or paid holiday. Can be banked as lieu time up to 10 days per year. Minimum 1 hour of overtime must be paid.
Meal allowance: Provided where employee must work 2 or more hours of overtime immediately following regularly scheduled hours.
Medical benefits: Company-funded extended health care and dental insurance plans.
Sick leave: 1 ¼ days for each calendar month receiving at least 10 days’ pay.
Life insurance: Company-funded group benefit plan with life insurance, AD&D, LTD.
Pension: Company-funded Northern Employee Benefits Services Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of immediate family member (father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse, child, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, any relative permanently residing in the employee’s household, including stepmother, stepfather, stepchild, foster child).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at straight time rate or appropriate overtime rate. Minimum 4 hours at appropriate overtime rate if on day of rest or paid holiday.
Severance: First layoff: 2 weeks’ pay for each of first and second year of employment and 1 week for each successive complete year of employment to a maximum 28 weeks’ pay. Second layoff: 2 weeks for first year and 1 week for each successive year of employment to a maximum of 27 weeks.
Safety shoes: $200 per year for certain recreation, maintenance and airport employees.
Uniforms/clothing: Company provides hard hats, aprons, welding gloves, dust protection, eye protection, ear protection, coveralls, rubber boots and gloves where required.
Tool allowance: Company supplies all shop tools and special tools required.
Mileage: $0.485 per kilometre when using employee’s car for employer’s business.

Editor’s notes: Life-change leave: Up to 5 days paid leave for getting married or divorced. Northern allowance: $22,500 paid in biweekly instalments; full-time employees with at least 3 years' service can receive up to $8,500 in a lump sum. Monthly allowance of $328 for each full-time employee who owns a home or pays own fuel bill. Hunting, fishing, harvesting leave: Time off without pay may be granted on very short notice to an employee for traditional hunting, fishing or harvesting. Vehicle plug-in: $7 per day when employee must plug in company vehicle at home overnight while on call from November to April. Travel accommodation: $50 per night outside of Nunavut, $75 per night inside Nunavut.
