Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified in March 2020. Signed on March 19, 2021.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.6%
Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.5%
Shift premium: $0.90 per hour (previously $0.85 per hour) for shifts beginning at 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., or later and all hours on day shift after 5 p.m. and before 6 a.m. $1.05 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for each hour worked between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Sunday.
Paid holidays: 10 days plus 1 float holiday after 4 months of employment; 2 float holidays after 8 months of employment; 3 float holidays after 12 months of employment. Employee will be able to carry over December holidays (Christmas Day, Boxing Day) until March 15 of year following year in which they were earned.
Vacations with pay: 1 day per completed calendar month of service up to 2 weeks to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 11 years (previously 15 years), 6 weeks after 25 years, 7 weeks after 30 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of 7.5 hours in 1 workday; all work performed in excess of 7 consecutive workdays in any 9-day period; in excess of 75 hours in any 1 pay period. Time and one-half for all hours worked on statutory holiday.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage equivalent to Blue Cross Extended Health Care.
Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for plan equivalent to Blue Cross #9.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $350 every 24 months to employees and dependants.
Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $1,000 per person per calendar year towards combination of chiropractic, massage therapy, physiotherapy.
STD: Employer maintains plan providing 17 weeks’ pay, with 100% of earnings for 1 week for employees with less than 1 year of service and 17 weeks for employees with 9 years of service, with balance at 75%.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of full-time employees for 66 2/3% of monthly earnings up to $4,000 up to age 65.
Life insurance: Employer pays full premiums for coverage for 2 times annual earnings.
Pension: Canada Pension Plan and Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Act (OMERS).
Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of spouse, fiancé, child, stepchild, grandchild, parent. 3 paid days for death of sibling grandparent, spouse’s grandparent, parent-in-law, child-in-law. 1 paid day for death of parent-in-law, aunt, or uncle. 1 day may be used at later date for internment or memorial service.
Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for layoffs; 24 months for employee who is absent due to illness or injury.
Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at straight time unless entitled to receive overtime pay for such hours. $30 per day on-call premium.
Probationary period: 400 hours worked. Period may be extended up to additional 400 hours.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for suspension or disciplinary action including letters of reprimand.
Safety shoes: $145 (previously $120) annual footwear and clothing allowance.
Uniforms/clothing: $150 every 24 months for winter jackets for every maintenance person.

Housekeeping aide/laundry aide/dietary aide: $22.83 rising 1 step to $23.17
Cook: $23.63 rising 1 step to $23.98
Lead-hand: $24 rising 1 step to $24.36
Maintenance person: $24.40 rising 1 step to $24.77
Maintenance specialist: $24.49 rising 1 step to $25.88
Recreation aide/personal support worker: $25.27 rising 1 step to $25.64
Registered practical nurse: $31.03 rising 1 step to $31.50
Editor’s notes: Educational leave: Employer may provide unpaid leave of absence without loss of seniority up to 12 months to attend educational courses provided such courses relate to employee’s work. Hearing aids: $200 every 60 months.
