Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2021 to Sept. 30, 2027. Signed on Jan. 1, 2022.

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for lead-hands. $3 per hour for time spent by drivers instructing drivers on proper operating procedures.

Paid holidays: 12 days, including day before Christmas.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Meal allowance: $10 for maintenance employee on road call is away from terminal prior to or at end of day’s work when employee would normally be coming on or going off duty for 2 hours or more.

Vision: Coverage of $400 every 24 months.

LTD: Coverage of maximum $1,200 per month (previously $1,000 per month).

Pension: Teamsters and Participating Employers of Ontario (Inc.) Pension Plan. Employer will contribute $100 per month to RRSP.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, spouse, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparents, grandchildren, stepparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law).

Seniority – recall rights: 180 calendar days for employees promoted to supervisory positions or positions not subject to agreement; 24 consecutive working months after layoff. 24 months if driver loses driver’s licence due to medical requirements applied by transport department.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours of pay.

Probationary period: 90 calendar days.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply and maintain adequate coveralls for maintenance employees as needed, minimum 4 changes per week. Raincoats, water-proof pants, lined rubber boots, hats, parkas will be made available to all maintenance employees required to work outside in inclement weather. Employees employed in handling hazardous material will be supplied with necessary safety equipment (rubber clothing, goggles, safety glasses, welding glasses, welding shields, welding screens) to protect employee’s person. $40 for prescription safety glasses will be provided to maintenance employees.

Tool allowance: All tools of 3/4” drive and all special tools, including flashlights and batteries, required for job will be supplied by employer.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase):

Drivers: $27.64 rising 4 steps to $32.14

Maintenance employees

Skilled classification no. 1: $32.06 rising 4 steps to $38.56

Skilled classification no. 1: $28.93 rising 4 steps to $31.93

Semi-skilled: $28.48 rising 4 steps to $31.48

Unskilled: $25.64 rising 4 steps to $27.64

Apprentices

Year 4: 90% of licensed mechanic rate

Year 3: 80% of licensed mechanic rate

Year 2: 70% of licensed mechanic rate

Year 1: 60% of licensed mechanic rate

Editor’s notes: Medicals: $150 (previously $120) for any medical examination required by employer or federal legislation or any medical examination required by provincial legislation to maintain driver’s licence. Employee will be paid $20 if medical examination is taken after working hours. Drug testing: Employer will pay $15.50 per test during shift (unpaid time) and $20 per test if required to go before or after shift. Meals: Drivers who are required to layover and sleep away from home will receive $30 per sleep. Effective Jan. 1, 2024: $35 per sleep. Effective Jan. 1, 2027: $40 per sleep.
