Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified on Feb. 21, 2018. Signed on March 8, 2018.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2018: Lump-sum payment of 1.5% of straight-time pay (previously $750)

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for lead-hands.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 4% to start, 1 week or 4% after 6 months, 2weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5weeks or 20% after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 40 hours per week.

Medical benefits: After 6 months of employment, regular employees, who work average of 20 hours per week, will be enrolled in group benefits plan.

Pension: After 6 months of service, employer will match employee contribution to group RSP plan, maximum 1.5% (previously 1%). Effective Jan. 1, 2020: Maximum 2%.

Bereavement leave: 2 days paid, 1 day unpaid, for death in immediate family (parents, guardian, siblings, children, grandparents, grandchildren, employee’s spouse, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, any other person who lives with employee as member of employee’s family).

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.

Probationary period: 3 months (previously 6 months).

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.

Severance: 1 week after 1 year; 2 weeks after 2 years; 4 weeks after 4 years; 5 weeks after 6 years; 6 weeks after 8 years; 8 weeks after 10 years.

Safety shoes: $200 per year to each employee, after 6 months of service, for approved CSA footwear that is not provided by employer. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: $300.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 5 pairs of coveralls for instructors/labourer 10 pairs of coveralls for mechanics/equipment technicians.

Tool allowance: $500 for required tools, after 1 year of employment, for mechanics (RSE). Employer will provide 100% insurance for all regular mechanics tools provided detailed tool inventory is taken and verified by employer.

Mileage: $0.54 per kilometre for the first 5,000 kilometres; $0.48 per kilometre thereafter if employee is required to use own motor vehicle to travel on company business.

Editor’s notes: Training: Employer will require courses to be completed as condition of employment (WHMIS, first aid level 1, CSTS, ground disturbance level 2). Employer will reimburse, after successful completion, course costs provided course may be taken internally through employer. Employee will be paid straight-time for hours scheduled to train outside scheduled hours. Per-diem rate: $17 per meal, maximum $51 per day, to employees for each day employee is away from home while at work. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.05 per hour for all regular and overtime hours worked for each employee covered by collective agreement to Teamsters, Local 362 for placement in industry advancement fund.
