Renewal agreement: Effective Dec. 17, 2018 to Jan. 3, 2022. Ratified on Dec. 6, 2018. Signed on Dec. 6, 2018.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Dec. 17, 2018: $0.35 per hour
Effective Jan. 7, 2019: $0.40 per hour
Effective Jan. 6, 2020: $0.40 per hour
Effective Jan. 4, 2021: $0.45 per hour
Shift premium: $0.35 per hour for each hour worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. in any 24-hour period. $0.50 per hour for lead-hands.
Paid holidays: 10 days. August Civic holiday (first Monday in August) will constitute holiday in lieu of Remembrance Day.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 20 years. After 1 year of service, all employees must take all available vacation time during calendar year.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8, 11, 12 hours per day or 40, 42, 44 hours per week; double time after 4 hours of overtime. Double time for all work on Sunday.
Meal allowance: Employer will provide $8 if overtime work continues more than 2.5 hours beyond end of employee’s regular shift.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Pension: Employer contributes 1% of wages, employee contributes 1% of wages after 1 year of service; employer contributes 1.5% of wages, employee contributes 1.5% of wages after 2 years of service; employer contributes 2% of wages, employee contributes 2% of wages after 3 years of service; employer contributes 2.5% of wages, employee contributes 2.5 % of wages after 4 years of service to RRSP.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, same-sex partner, common-law spouse, child, stepchild, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, sister, brother, grandparent, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law). Maximum 12 hours for death of brother-in-law, sister-in-law.
Seniority – recall rights: 3 months to start; 6 months after 1 year of service; 12 months after 5 years of service.
Probationary period: 3 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for disciplinary letters.
Safety shoes: Maintenance employees will not receive rubber boots but will be entitled to $150-per-year boot allowance after 1 year of employment.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide rubber boots, other clothing and equipment as required. Employer will provide cold-weather suit for employees working in following positions: shag driver, yards (product protection, sample runs), cattle receiving, kill and fabrication freezers (only those employees required to go into the freezers), maintenance production and slaughter, rendering load-out. Employer will provide 1 coat, per work group, for each of following work groups (to be used as needed by individuals in the work group): cooler cleanout, packaging cleanup (including slaughter), store receivers. Employer will provide 2 coats to boiler room employees.
Tool allowance: Maintenance employees will supply own tools but will be reimbursed for tools that wear out or break through ordinary wear and tear.
