Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2015, to Sept. 30, 2025. Signed on Aug. 15, 2016.

Wage adjustments: 
Effective Nov. 1, 2015: 1.2%
(Wage reopener for negotiations every Nov. 1 for the duration of the agreement)

Paid holidays: 12 days. 

Vacations with pay: 14 days or 4% after 1 year, 21 days or 6% after 2 years, 28 days or 8% after 7 years, 35 days or 10% after 15 years, 42 days or 12% after 22 years, additional 2% wages after 30 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for any hours worked after regular hours. Maximum 16 hours overtime in a 7-day period.

Meal allowance: $16.82 if working more than 2 hours of overtime. 

Medical benefits: 100% premiums paid by employer for B.C. Medical Services Plan.

Pension: Canadian Merchant Service Guild, Western Branch Pension Plan. 8.5% per month contribution by employer.

Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner, father, mother, spouse or common-law partner of the father or mother, children, children of spouse or common-law partner, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, grandfather, grandmother, father and mother of spouse or common-law partner, spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, any relative who resides permanently with the employee).

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 1-day pay. Minimum one half-day if vessel breaks down, or weather prevents ship from sailing. 

Probationary period: 6 months or 81 12-hour shifts. 

Discipline: Sunset clause is 3 years.

Severance: 1 week's pay for every year worked. 

Safety shoes: 1 pair of rubber caulk boots per year.

Uniforms/clothing: $125 per year.

Editor’s notes: Legal defence coverage: $31.37 per month paid by the employer. Marine disaster: $1,600 for shift vessels, $2,000 for continuous-operating vessels. Additional $2,000 for loss of electronic equipment. Medical qualifications: Rate per day in attendance in Transport Canada-required medical exam for continued proficiency or STCW 95 certification.
