Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Signed on July 21, 2020.
Shift premium: 25% in lieu of benefits for overload, for time period in question, for regular and non-regular type 2 faculty members who teach overloads; may be taken as compensatory time-off as payment for overload but must be taken no later than 3 years from when overload was completed.
Paid holidays: 14 days, including Christmas Eve Day, New Year’s Eve Day.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 100% coverage of basic services, including diagnostic, preventive, surgical and restorative services, prosthetic repairs, endodontics and periodontics; 50% coverage of restorative services such as crowns, bridges and dentures and oral surgery; 50% coverage of orthodontic treatment, maximum $2,500 per lifetime for dependant children ages 6 to 18.
Vision: Maximum $650 (previously $500) during any 24-month period for lenses and frames or contact lenses or laser eye surgery. Maximum $100 during any 24-month period for eye examinations.
Sick leave: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employer pays absent employee full salary for absence not exceeding 30 calendar days, reserving right to demand certificate from medical practitioner. STD at 70% weekly indemnity for next 21 weeks; LTD of 70% thereafter. Employer will establish fund of $10,000 per fiscal year, from which non-regular type 1 faculty members may draw benefits.
STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 3 times employee’s annual salary, maximum $250,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 3 times employee’s annual salary, maximum $250,000.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of family member (parent, spouse, child, brother, sister, parents-in-law, children’s spouses, foster-parent, stepchild, foster-child, grandparents, any other person living in same household who is dependent on employee). 1 day to attend funeral.
Probationary period: 2 years. 1 year from date of re-assignment for faculty member who has been re-assigned.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 5 years for discipline which involves suspension or issue which involves harassment, discrimination or health and safety of students or employees; 2 years for all other disciplinary matters.
Severance: 1 month’s pay for every year of FTE service, maximum 10 months’ pay.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply, at no cost to employees, all pieces of health and safety apparel and equipment required by WorkSafeBC.

Editor’s notes: Cancellation fee: If section offered in writing to any non-regular type-1 instructor is cancelled, employer will pay cancellation fee of $500 as well as hourly rate specified per class contact hours that may have occurred. $500 for each 1/8 reduction of full workload, maximum of $4,000, for non-regular type 2 faculty member. Guided study course contract: $200 per credit for first student and $75 per credit for each additional student. Trades curriculum development fund: Employer will provide funding to ensure fund retains balance of $50,000 at start of each fiscal year (unused monies will be retained and rolled into fund in following year). Cultural leave for Aboriginal employees: Self-identified Aboriginal employee may request up to 3 days of leave, with pay, per year to organize or attend Aboriginal cultural events. Hearing aid: Maximum $1,000 every 3 years. Professional development committees: Employer will provide $700 for each full-time equivalent faculty member in faculty to each professional development committee for fiscal year. Financial counselling: Each faculty member who is offered retirement incentive is entitled to receive personal financial counselling, lifetime total of 3 hours of consultation and fees for consultations will be paid by employer, maximum $240 per faculty member. Medical travel referral benefit: $125 per day, maximum 50 days per year, for all eligible expenses combined.
