Renewal agreement: Effective June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2021. Ratified on July 25, 2019. Signed on Oct. 1, 2019.

Shift premium: $3 per hour for drivers who assist in training new employees. $2 per hour to all employees working on shifts commencing between midnight and 4:59 a.m.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 9 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 17 years, 1 additional day for employees after 25 years. If employee terminates employment at any time during year, employee will be paid accrued vacation pay to date of termination.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Time and one-half for all work on Saturday. Double time for all work on Sunday.

Meal allowance: $15 as meal allowance, which will be included on regular pay cheque, if employee is required to work more than 12 hours in any shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums (previously employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of premiums) to Prairie Teamsters Health and Welfare Plan.

Pension: All employees will participate in Teamsters Prairie Provinces Pension after 1 year of employment. Employer will contribute $3.25 per hour worked (previously $3.10 per hour). Effective June 1, 2020: $3.40 per hour.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, mother, father, sons, daughter, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, stepmother, stepfather, stepson, stepdaughter, common-law spouse).

Seniority – recall rights: 9 months after layoffs; maximum 180 days when employee takes leave of absence to take position within company that is beyond sphere of bargaining unit; 365 calendar days for employee who is on unpaid leave of absence.

Probationary period: First 90 calendar days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for written reprimands or warning letters.

Safety shoes: $150 per year (previously $125 per year) for employees who are expected to wear CSA-certified boots in compliance with employer policy at all times while working. Employees are allowed to carry-over 1 years’ worth of allowance and purchase boots every other year for double allowance.

Mileage: $0.48 per kilometre when employee travels to project or job that is more than 10 kilometres beyond corporate limits of city

Sample rates of pay (current, after 2.9% increase):

Mixer driver: $30.90 rising 2 steps to $31.80

Trailer driver: $31.90 rising 2 steps to $32.80

Editor’s notes: Coffee break: Coffee, tea will be provided for employees by employer. Training rate: $3 per hour less than employee classification rate when employing employee who has not previously worked for employer, whose skill and ability are unknown or unproved. Physical examinations: Employer may require physical examination, at its own expense, of any employee. However, employer will give employee 24 hours’ notice prior to such examination and employer will pay for all time lost. Licensing: Employees who are required to take time off for driving or other tests for obtaining or renewing licenses, may do so only at employer convenience and after providing 7 days’ notice to employer. Employer will provide, when necessary, equipment appropriate to test to be taken and will pay for time lost. Driver will be reimbursed full cost of medical examination which employee has undergone as requirement for maintaining Alberta Vehicle Operators License, Class 1, (after 1 year of service).
