Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2027. Signed on April 14, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2022: 3%

Effective April 1, 2023: 2.7%

Effective April 1, 2024: 2.7%

Effective April 1, 2025: 2.6%

Effective April 1, 2026: 2.6%

Shift premium: $1.65 per hour for shifts that begin after midnight but before 4 a.m. Effective April 1, 2023: $1.75 per hour. $1 per hour for all hours worked on alternate ticket when multi-ticketed journeyman tradesperson is working outside classified trade on alternate journeyman ticket. $1 per hour while performing watchman duties for process and warehouse personnel possessing fifth-class power engineer ticket or better.

Paid holidays: 12 days, including Farmer’s Day (second Friday in June) and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 2 weeks, to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 9 years, 5 weeks after 16 years, 6 weeks after 23 years. Employees with greater than 16 years of service may save any vacation entitlement greater than 4 weeks (may be taken as pre-retirement leave or as special extended vacation in later years).

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 40 hours per week; double time for work after 50 hours per week. Time and one-half for work on Saturday; double time for work on Sunday.

Meal allowance: Free meal will be offered by employer when employee works 2 hours or more past normal quitting time, without prior notice.

Dental: Coverage of 100% for basic dental care; 70% for crowns, bridges and dentures; 50% for orthodontics, overall maximum $2,250 per year (previously $1,500 per year) per eligible family member for basic and major restorative services combined. Effective April 1, 2025: $2500 per year.

Vision: Maximum $450 every 24 months (previously $350 every 24 months) per family member.

Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of 75%, maximum 39 weeks.

Sick leave: 6 days; unused leave will be accumulated, maximum 15 days.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of twice annual earnings, maximum $100,000.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of twice annual earnings, maximum $100,000.

Pension: Employee will become eligible on first day of month after 6 months of service. Employee will contribute 7%, employer will contribute 8%.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, common-law relationships, child, parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepparent, stepchild. 3 days for death of immediate relative (grandchild, grandparents, spouse’s grandparents, sister, brother, stepsibling, son-in-law, daughter-in-law. 2 days for death of brother-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, nephew. 1 day for death of aunt, uncle.

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoffs.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours of pay.

Probationary period: 720 working hours.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for any previous discipline; 3 years for suspensions.

Severance: 1 week of pay for each year of service, after 1 year of service, maximum 5 years; 2 weeks’ pay for each year of service, after 5 years of service.

Safety shoes: Reimbursement, maximum $375 per contract year. Effective April 1, 2023: $385 per contract year. Effective April 1, 2024: $395 per contract year. Effective April 1, 2025: $405 per contract year. Effective April 1, 2026: $415 per contract year.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply, once per year, 7 pairs of coveralls or 7 sets of shirts/pants for each employee and all employees will wear coveralls or shirts/pants.

Tool allowance: Recognized tradespersons are eligible to receive $350 per contract year. Eligible employees may also purchase additional tools required for work through payroll deduction, maximum $250 per year.

Engineer (first-class): $49.20 rising 4 steps to $54.63

Engineer (second-class): $47.45 rising 4 steps to $52.69

Instrument mechanic: $42.81 rising 4 steps to $47.53

Electrician (journeyman): $42.20 rising 4 steps to $46.85

Millwright: $42.20 rising 4 steps to $46.85

Editor’s notes: Hearing aids: Maximum $750 every 5 years per family member. Safety glasses: Glasses will be provided by employer to those employees requiring prescription glasses; 1 pair every 24 months, maximum $400. Maximum $100 every 24 months for non-prescription glasses.
