Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Signed on May 5, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 1%

Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 2%

Shift premium: Double time for employees called to work on days off.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: Maximum 15 days to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 3 years (4 weeks after 8 years for employees hired after April 15, 2019), 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 26 years. Upon termination of employment, employee will be paid out pro-rated amount of vacation days based on number of months worked prior to termination less any vacation time already taken in that year.

Overtime: Paid at double time, when requested by employer.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for core extended health care. Employee pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for core extended dental care.

Life insurance: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer will provide coverage under Local Authorities Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (spouse (including common-law spouse), mother, father, brother, sister, child, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents, grandchild, legal guardian, grandmother-in-law, grandfather-in-law). Unpaid leave of up to 3 days may be requested for any other relative or steprelative. One-half day when attending funeral as pallbearer. Additional one-half day if employee is required to travel greater than 250 kilometres round-trip to attend funeral as pallbearer. Employee may be given 3 hours of leave, without pay, to attend deceased member’s funeral for death of member of library local of CUPE, Local 70 or member of CUPE, Local 70 executive committee.

Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for continuous layoffs; 6 months for employee who is appointed to excluded position.

Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 continuous hours.

Probationary period: 975 accumulated hours. Employer may extend period additional 488 accumulated hours. Any absences, maximum 75 hours, will be added to period.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.

Editor’s notes: Paid personal leave: Permanent full-time employees (in third and each subsequent year of service) may take up to 2 days of paid personal leave per year. Leave is not cumulative and will not be paid out upon termination. Banked time: Permanent employees may elect to bank vacation, overtime, general holiday time, maximum 75 hours at any given time. Balance will be carried over from year to year provided it does not exceed 75 hours. Standby: When employee is on standby and is not called into work, employee will receive 1 hour of pay for every 3 hours of standby. Shift cancellations: Minimum 3 hours of pay when employer cancels shift with less than 12 hours’ notice.
