Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2019. Signed on April 12, 2016.

Shift premium: Systems Operator: night-shift bonus of $1.75 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2016: $1.80 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2017: $1.85 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2018: $1.95 per hour. Powerline maintainer: night-shift bonus of $1.75 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2016: $1.80 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2017: $1.85 per hour. Effective Jan. 1, 2018: $1.95 per hour. Paid holidays: 13.5 days (previously 9 days, and 2 half days).

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks after 1 year; 3 weeks, 1 day after 5 years; 3 weeks, 2 days after 6 years; 3 weeks, 3 days after 7 years; 3 weeks, 4 days after 8 years; 4 weeks after 9 years; 4 weeks, 1 day after 13 years; 4 weeks, 2 days after 14 years; 4 weeks, 3 days after 15 years; 4 weeks, 4 days after 16 years; 5 weeks after 17 years; 5 weeks, 1 day after 19 years; 5 weeks, 2 days after 22 years; 5 weeks, 3 days after 23 years; 5 weeks, 4 days after 24 years; 6 weeks after 25 years.

Overtime: Double time for work after 8- or 12-hour shifts, or after 40 hours per week. Maximum 40 hours banked time. 

Meal allowance: $15 for every 4 hours overtime worked ($16 effective Jan. 1, 2018) (previously $14).

Medical benefits: 100% premiums covered by employer for Green Shield Canada plan. Maximum $100,000 for biological drugs per year. Dispensing fee capped at $7. Smoking cessation $150 lifetime maximum. 

Dental: Caps and crowns maximum $1,500 per year, 50/50 copayment. Orthodontics $2,000 maximum lifetime 50/50 copayment. 

Vision: $425 every 2 years, $450 every 2 years effective Jan. 1, 2018 (previously $400 per year).

Paramedical: Paramedical services:  $575, $650 effective Jan. 1, 2018. Chiropractic: $350, $400 effective Jan. 1, 2019.

Life insurance: $10,000 paid-up life policy or $5,000 taxable retiring allowance.

Pension: Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System and Canada Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, partner, child, step-child).  4 days for death of mother-in-law or father-in-law. 3 days for death in extended family (sister, brother, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother, stepsister, spouse’s grandparents). 1 day for death in other family (aunt, uncle, niece or nephew, spouse’s aunt, uncle, niece, nephew).

Seniority – recall rights: 15 months.

Probationary period: 6 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.

Severance: The lesser of: 2 weeks per year of service, maximum 30 weeks or pay from the end of the notice period until the end of the month in which the employee reaches 65th birthday.

Safety shoes: Effective Jan. 1, 2017: $230 per year ($240 effective Jan. 1, 2019) (previously $210 per year). Effective Jan. 1, 2017: power line maintainer/power line maintainer/leading arborist/arborist: $250 per year (effective  Jan. I, 2019: $260) (previously $230 per year).

Editor’s notes: Standby pay: Effective Jan. 1, 2017, $230 ($240 effective Jan. 1, 2019) per week (previously $200). Extra $60 on holiday. Sleep time: If employee works 16 hours continuously, or 16 of 24 hours, worker will get 8 hours of paid rest time, if it coincides with regular shift. If employee works 4 hours between 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., worker will get 4 hours of paid rest time, if it coincides with regular shift. Medical certificate: If required to return from sick time, employer will reimburse, maximum $15. Hearing care plan: $750 every 3 years. Employment of relatives: Employer will not hire persons who are spouse, same-sex partner, child or parent of an employee, excepting employees who become married after they have been employed in a permanent position.
