Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2023 to March 31 , 2027. Signed on April 18, 2023.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2023: 2%

Effective April 1, 2024: 2%

Effective April 1, 2025: 4.1%

Effective April 1, 2023: 3%

Shift premium: $3 per hour for lead-hands. Time and one-half for all hours worked on designated days of rest. $1.40 per hour for employees whose shift starts between 3:59 p.m. and 3:59 a.m. $2.30 per hour for each hour spent training for employee assigned to train another employee. $2.50 per hour for employees with welder’s certificate.

Paid holidays: 12 days, including National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 9 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 14 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 19 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked outside regular hours.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 3 days per year. Any unused sick days will be paid out on first pay period in December.

Pension: Employer will contribute $3 or $4 per hour (based on classification) into Teamster Prairie Provinces Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner, employee’s father and mother, spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, employee’s children and children of spouse or common-law partner, employee’s grandchildren, brothers and sisters, grandfather and grandmother of employee; father and mother of spouse or common-law partner, spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, relative of employee who resides permanently with employee). 2 additional unpaid days if service is greater than 200 kilometres from Edmonton location.

Seniority – recall rights: 7 calendar days when employee transfers from 1 unit to another unit.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at appropriate rate (if employee works 4 hours and 15 minutes, employee will be guaranteed 6 hours’ pay; if employee works 6 hours and 15 minutes, employee will be guaranteed 8 hours’ pay).

Probationary period: 90 calendar days of employment.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for penalty, written reprimand, infraction or warning letter.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will pay maximum $650 every 12 months (previously $425 every 12 months) for safety equipment (PPE), coveralls, rain gear, gloves, steel-toed boots.

Tool allowance: $500 per year. Employer will also provide insurance plan to cover all maintenance shop employee tools, maximum $2,500 per tool.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 904% increase):

Yard person/ground person: $26 rising 3 steps to $28.44

Tractor drivers (in CP Yard) : $26.45 rising 3 steps to $28.93

Machine operators: $28.45 rising 3 steps to $31.12

Trailer mechanic: $31.83 rising 3 steps to $34.81

Second-year apprentice: $25.47 rising 3 steps to $27.86

First-year apprentice: $23.35 rising 3 steps to $25.54

Tire man/non-licensed serviceman: $21.23 rising 3 steps to $23.22

Editor’s notes: Rest between shifts: Employees will receive 9-hour rest between scheduled shifts or will be paid overtime rates for all hours worked on following shift. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.05 per regular hour worked for each employee into Teamsters union/industry advance fund.
