Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 1, 2020 to July 31, 2023. Ratified on Aug. 1, 2020. Signed on Oct. 27, 2020

Shift premium: Employee will be paid time and one-half if schedule is changed without sufficient notice (24 hours) for all hours worked outside previous schedule until expiry of required notice. Time and one-half when employee is instructed to report before scheduled starting time for any hours employee works before scheduled starting time. Double time for work performed on Sunday (except for those whose work regularly falls on Sunday). $0.60 per hour for work performed on regular shift if 5 or more scheduled hours fall between 4 p.m. and 5 a.m. Time and one-half for Saturday hours for employees whose schedule calls for work on calendar Saturdays; for Sunday work for employees working on shifts regularly scheduled to commence before 8 p.m. on Sundays. $0.45 per hour for all hours worked as trainer. $0.50 per hour utility-person premium.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: Vacation with pay in accordance with regulations of Alberta to start, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 20 years, 6 weeks after 25 years. Periods will not be accumulated from year to year and unused vacation will be paid out at end of vacation season (March 31).

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours employees are required to work in any day in excess of number of hours prescribed in schedule for day. Double for additional hours if employee works 10 continuous hours.

Meal allowance: Employer will provide meal if employees work more than 2 hours after scheduled quitting time or longer than 10 continuous hours; if work continues for 5 hours beyond first allowance, another meal will be provided. Employees will be provided with meal if required to work more than 5 hours on non-scheduled days (not to include paid public holidays falling on scheduled work days) or cash equivalent of $8 added to net earnings for that week.

Medical benefits: Employer will pay between $235 per month, maximum $245 per month of premium costs (previously $200 per month) for benefit service plan, administered by CLAC Health and Welfare Trust Fund for each employee (minimum 24 hours per week worked). Employees will pay minimum $1 per month (employees will be responsible for any further increases to plan greater than $245 per eligible member per month).

Dental: Basic services: 80% maximum $2,000 per person per year; major services: 50% maximum $2,000 per person per year; orthodontic: 50% maximum $3,000 lifetime maximum per child younger than 19.

Vision: Coverage of $300 per year for those younger than 21; $300 every 2 years for 21 and older.

AD&D: Coverage of $50,000.

Life insurance: Coverage of $50,000.

Pension: Employer contributes 2.5%, employee contributes 2.5% of CLAC Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, daughter, son, mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, grandchild). 1 day for death in extended family (sister-in-law, brother-in-law, stepparent, stepchild, son-in-law, daughter-in-law).

Seniority – recall rights: 1 year.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ at regular rate for time spent on emergency work outside of scheduled hours.

Probationary period: 500 hours after being hired; 1,000 hours for all maintenance employees (employer, union may agree to extend employee’s probationary period for additional 1,000 hours maximum).

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for previous written warnings, previous suspensions.

Safety shoes: Rubber boots will be supplied to employees at cost. Maintenance, yardman, shipping, cooler employees (with more than 6 months’ seniority) who purchase safety footwear for use on job, will receive $250 toward purchase; $100 for all positions not listed, who wish to purchase footwear in lieu of rubber boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Launderable outer work clothing, oilskin aprons, oilskin sleeves, gloves, hair nets, head covering will be supplied to employees.

Tool allowance: All tradespeople of maintenance department (after 6 months’ seniority) will receive maximum $225 per year (previously $200 per year) for replacement of tools which are broken or worn out on job. Effective Aug. 1, 2022: Maximum $245 per year. Service technicians (after 6 months’ seniority) will receive maximum $75 per contract year for replacement of tools in relation to assigned job duties where employer has approved and been provided purchase receipt.
