Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Ratified in December 2019. Signed on July 1, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2019: 1.8%

Effective July 1, 2020: 1.8%

Effective July 1, 2021: 1.7%

Shift premium: $0.60 per hour for all hours on scheduled shift that commences after 9 p.m. $1.50 per hour for lead-hands.

Paid holidays: 10 days

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours after 40 hours per week. Time and one-half for all hours worked on statutory holiday.

Meal allowance: $12 when working more than 2 hours beyond scheduled shift.

Medical benefits: Teamsters Local Union 847 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Fund. Employer will contribute $350 per month into fund. Effective July 1, 2020: $375 plus applicable taxes. Effective July 1, 2021: $400 plus applicable taxes.

Dental: Teamsters Local Union 847 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Fund. Coverage of 100% for basic dental services; 50% for major dental services, orthodontic services. Basic, major services: combined maximum of $2,000 per year; orthodontic services: $2,500 per lifetime per dependent child.

Vision: Teamsters Local Union 847 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Fund. Maximum amount payable in any 12-month period is $300 for persons 18 and younger; $300 in any 24-month period for persons older than 18. Eye examinations are covered for individuals older than 20, but younger than 65, maximum $80 every 24 months.

Weekly indemnity: 70% of basic weekly earnings up to EI maximum.

LTD: Teamsters Local Union 847 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Fund. Coverage of 66.67% of monthly earnings, maximum benefit of $3,000 per month, payable upon total disability.

AD&D: Teamsters Local Union 847 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Fund. Coverage of 2 times annual earnings, maximum $200,000.

Life insurance: Teamsters Local Union 847 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Fund. Coverage of 2 times annual earnings, maximum $500,000.

Pension: Employer will contribute 5%, after 1 year of service, into Teamsters Local Union 847 Defined Contribution Pension Plan. Employer will collect payroll contributions for Teamsters Local Union 847 Voluntary Group RRSP.

Bereavement leave: Up to 3 days following day of death of child, spouse, parent, sibling, parent-in-law, sibling-in-law, grandparent, grandchild.

Seniority – recall rights: Continuous period exceeding length of employee’s seniority at time of layoff or 24 months, whichever comes first.

Probationary period: 60 working days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for any action or decision in respect of any employee.

Safety shoes: $120 per year for safety shoes for barbacks; non-slip shoes for kitchen staff, bartenders.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer supplies work gloves and safety glasses, which remain company property. Employer provides necessary uniforms or parts of uniforms where required and pays for alteration of any newly issued tailored uniform. Employer retains right to charge for cost of replacement for loss or damage to uniform due to negligence by employee.

Sample rates of pay (current, after 2-step increase):

Front of house

Server, bartender: $0.50 over Ontario minimum wage

Barback, busser: $14.25 rising 2 steps to $14.75

Hostess: $14.70 rising 2 steps to $15.20

Back of house

Chef de partie: $20.15 rising 2 steps to $20.90

Lead cook: $18.65 rising 2 steps to $19.40

Second cook: $17.10 rising 2 steps to $17.85

Third cook, dishwasher: $15.05 rising 2 steps to $15.80

Editor’s notes: Bumping: Only allowed if employee is at risk of losing seniority due to lapse of recall period (temporary layoffs not applicable). Leave of absence: Company may grant maximum 2 months’ unpaid leave with at least 4 weeks written request. Reporting pay: 4 hours if employee reports and isn’t notified in advance not to report, except when there is lack of work due to situation beyond employer’s control. Temporary assignment: When employee is assigned to another classification for which employee is qualified and able, employee will receive higher of own rate or rate of new job.
