Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to Apr. 30, 2022. Ratified in June 2019. Signed May 1, 2019.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2019: 2.4%

Effective May 1, 2020: 2.3%

Effective May 1, 2021: 2.5%

Shift premium: 15% on regular hours for shift commencing between noon and 2 a.m. 1 extra hour paid for each straight-time night shift (commencing between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m.) of not more than 7 hours. 30% above journeyman basic rate for employees working as industrial rope-access technicians. $1 per hour where employee work 60 feet and higher from ground on supporting structures or open platforms including trusses, stacks, towers, tanks, bosun chairs, swing or rolling scaffolds or similar equipment where employee is subject to direct fall to ground (Sudbury). $6 for each hour worked for employees actually up flare stack where fireproof clothing and air packs are required; $3 for each hour worked where fireproof clothing and air packs are not required (Sarnia). 11% for all regular hours worked on shift beginning any time after 8 a.m. and before 7 p.m. (Toronto). 15% for foreman (Toronto).

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Overtime: Double time for all hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays, statutory holidays as well was all overtime beyond normal hours per day, except for shift work and emergency repairs.

Meal allowance: $15 or adequate hot meal for employees who work 2 hours of overtime and every 4 hours thereafter (Sault Ste. Marie).

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Employees in Local 416 (Toronto) may participate in voluntary RRSP contribution plan and contribute $0.50 per hour.

Tool allowance: Tools such as pliers, torpedo level, measuring tape supplied where necessary; specifics vary according to location and union local. Contractor supplies all remaining tools and equipment required for proper installation of all work.

Mileage: $1.15 per kilometre where employee is required to commute daily or travel to job from Thunder Bay (or point of accommodation) to job site outside 35-kilometre travel-free zone; $0.80 per hour where transportation is provided by employer.

Editor’s notes: Ontario pipe trades fund: Employer will deduct $0.26 from each employee for each hour earned into Ontario Pipe Trades Council fund. Canadian training fund/industry enhancement fund/UA wellness program: Employer will contribute $0.05 per hour worked or earned to Canadian training fund; and five $0.05 per hour worked or earned to industry enhancement fund: and $0.05 per hour worked or earned to UA wellness program. Education, training fund: Each employer will contribute to local training fund 1.25% of (basic rate and vacation pay) for each hour’s pay earned by each employee (Thunder Bay). Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.44 per employee earned hour to industry fund (Thunder Bay). Board allowance: Employees working on job who because of location of job site, are required to maintain temporary living quarters away from permanent residence, will receive $16.50 per straight-time hour paid; $16.50 per hour paid for 8 hours on any day that overtime is worked (Thunder Bay). Workers instructive program: Employers will contribute $0.12 per employee per hour worked to workers instructive program (Thunder Bay). Southwestern stabilization fund: Employer that has employees working in southwestern Ontario will contribute $3 per each hour earned (previously $2.75 per each hour earned) to stabilization fund. Parking: $8.25 per day reimbursement (southwestern Ontario).
