Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2023. Ratified on Nov. 24, 2019. Signed on Jan. 29, 2019.
Shift premium: Rate of pay paid for position (retroactive to first day of acting appointment) for employee who temporarily assumes duties of another position paying higher rate of pay. $1.75 per hour will be paid to employee working between 5 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus one-half day for Christmas Eve Day; one-half day for New Year’s Eve Day.
Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 6 years, 25 days after 16 years, 30 days after 22 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours after 8 hours per day; double time thereafter. Double time for all work after 40 hours per week.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP (Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan) or equivalent, extended disability benefit plan D, schedule 2; extended health plan 1. Employer will contribute $41.67 per month for health care spending account.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP or equivalent, dental plan 3.
Sick leave: 1.5 days per month, maximum 18 days to start; 90 days per year after 1 year of service. When employee leaves employer, all sick leave will be cancelled.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP or equivalent, AD&D plan 2
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP or equivalent, life plan 2.
Pension: All eligible employees covered by agreement will be covered under Local Authorities Pension Plan (participation is obligatory after 1 year of service).
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, parent of spouse, sibling of spouse, foster-child, grandparents, grandchild, in-laws relative who is member of employee’s household. 1 day to attend funeral of funeral of uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, spouse’s grandparent, uncle or aunt of spouse, nephew or niece of spouse. 1 day to act as pallbearer.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs.
Call-in pay: Minimum 1 hour of pay at double time for emergency call-ins.
Probationary period: First 6 months worked; 44 working days after promotion.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for any disciplinary notation or warning in writing.

Bonuses will be paid to employee who achieve certifications: $54.70 (previously $54.16) for holder of Certificate of Maintenance; $69.02 (previously $68.34) for holder or Alberta Building Operators Certificate B.
Editor’s notes: Medical certificate: Employees may be required to submit certificate of health; cost of obtaining certificate will be covered by employer. Snow removal: Employee who does snow removal on weekends will bank straight-time hours in lieu for all hours worked to be taken before start of next school year. Standby allowance: $25 per day for each day that employee is on-call for weekend snow removal.
