Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2019 to Oct. 1, 2023. Ratified in February 2020. Signed on Feb. 23, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Oct. 1, 2019: 2.98%

Effective Oct. 1, 2020: 2.1%

Effective Oct. 1, 2021: 2.1%

Effective Oct. 1, 2022: 2.1%

Shift premium: $6 per shift for maintenance employees working shift starting at 6 p.m. and finishing at 8 a.m.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 11 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 20 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 88 over 2-week period and hours worked on paid holiday.

Medical benefits: Employee pays premiums to start; employer pays 50% of premiums after completion of year 1; 75% of premiums after year 2.

Sick leave: 4 paid days maximum of 24 per year upon completion of probationary period.

Pension: Employees are eligible to join employer’s pension plan after 2 years of service; employees contribute 5% of earnings and employer matches at 5%.

Bereavement leave: 2 consecutive paid days for death of parent, current spouse, child, ward, parent-in-law, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, guardian. Can be taken only between date of death and date of funeral.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 consecutive months of layoff; 24 months when employee is absent from work due to accident or illness for becomes permanently disabled.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay.

Probationary period: 6 months. May be extended up to 3 additional months where employer’s expectations are not being met. 3 months when transferring to new classification.

Severance: In accordance with Employment Standards Act.

Safety shoes: $160 per year for maintenance employees for footwear (3/4” height of boots) from company supplier.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides 3 shirts, 2 pants, 1 tie per year to operators plus 1 winter parka and 1 lighter jacket every 4 years. New drivers will be issued additional 2 shirts on 1-time basis. Replacement uniforms will be provided to each active employee on anniversary of date of last hire. Employees responsible for maintaining uniforms in clean and pressed condition and in good repair. Employer provides 10 clean coveralls per 2-week period for maintenance classifications.

Tool allowance: Mechanics receive $668 in first year, rising annually to $764 in fourth year.

Driver (probation): $19.62 rising in 2 steps to $20.45

Driver after probation): $21.81 rising in 2 steps to $22.74

Driver after year 1: $23.40 rising in 2 steps to $24.39

Driver after year 2: $24.92 rising in 2 steps to $25.97

Driver after year 3: $30.13 rising in 2 steps to $31.41

Utility driver: $23.36 rising in 2 steps to $24.35

Cleaner FT: $18.54 rising in 2 steps to $19.33

Shop apprentice year 1: $24.15 rising in 2 steps to $25.18

Shop apprentice after year 1: $26.21 rising in 2 steps to $27.32

Shop apprentice after year 2: $29.29 rising in 2 steps to $30.83

Licenced mechanic FT probation 310T: $37.83 rising in 2 steps to $39.43

Editor’s notes: Circle check time: All operators will be provided 15 minutes following takeover of bus during shift to allow for walkaround time. Drive time maximum: Operators are limited to maximum of 13 hours driving time following at least 8 consecutive hours off-duty. Training: When employee attends seminar or training course outside of employee’s regularly scheduled hours of work, employee will be paid at training rate of pay for all hours in attendance at seminar or course (hours will not be considered hours of work and will not be used in calculation of overtime). Take 2 program: Lump-sum payment of $100 per quarter, maximum $400 per year in years 1, 2 and 3. Commencing in year 4, increase quarterly payment to $110 per year maximum of $440.
