Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2021. Ratified on July 10, 2019. Signed on Aug. 21, 2019.
Shift premium: $1.25 per hour for employee temporarily assuming responsibilities of lead hand. $2.75 per hour for employees working shift where majority of hours fall between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. $5 per hour for employees working shift where majority of hours fall between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. $3.25 per hour for employees working 64-hour period that begins 3 p.m. on Friday. $0.65 per hour for employee who acts as preceptor for students in post-secondary, including unit clerk, laboratory assistant, medical device reprocessing technician or medical transcriptionist education or training program.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 15 days or 116.25 hours to start, 20 days or 155 hours after 3 years, 25 days or 193.75 hours after 10 years, 30 days or 232.5 hours after 20 years. Additional 38.75 hours of supplementary vacation after 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 years.
Overtime: Double time for all work after 7 3/4 or 8 hours per day. May be taken as time off in lieu. Effective April 1, 2020: maximum 38 3/4 hours in bank. Unused time will be paid out by March 31 of each year.
Meal allowance: $5 plus one-half hour lunch break for employees who work more than 2 hours of overtime following regular shift. Additional $5 and one-half hour lunch break after each subsequent 4 hours of overtime.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employees pays 25% of premiums. Alberta Blue Cross Supplementary Health Benefits Plan. Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Employer will provide $850 per year (previously $750 per year) for health spending account.
Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employees pays 25% of premiums. 80% reimbursement of basic services. 50% reimbursement of extensive services, orthodontic services. Maximum $3,000 per year for extensive services, orthodontic services.
Paramedical: Coverage of $50 per visit, $1,000 per year for massage, psychologist, podiatrist. Coverage of $35 per visit, $700 per year for naturopath, acupuncture.
Sick leave: 1 1/2 working days for each month of employment, maximum 930 hours.
STD: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employees pays 25% of premiums. Coverage of 66 2/3% of basic weekly earnings.
LTD: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employees pays 25% of premiums. Coverage of 66 2/3% of basic monthly earnings.
AD&D: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employees pays 25% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employees pays 25% of premiums.
Pension: Employer will contribute to Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse (including common-law spouse), son-in-law, child, daughter-in-law, parent, mother-in-law, brother, father-in-law, sister, brother-in-law, legal guardian, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, fiancé, stepsister, stepbrother, stepparent, stepchild. 3 days for death of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, foster-parents (if not considered true parents). 2 additional days for travel more than 322 kilometres 1-way. 1 day for death of another relative or close friend.
Seniority – recall rights: 24 months.
Call-in pay: Paid at overtime rate or 4 hours at basic rate of pay, whichever is greater.
Probationary period: 503.75 hours worked.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.
Severance: 2 weeks’ salary for each full year of employment, maximum 40 weeks (service in excess of 6 months will be considered as full year).
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will furnish, maintain (launder, alter and repair) without charge any uniforms which employer requires employee to wear.
