Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2023. Signed on Jan. 1, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: $750 signing bonus (previously $500)

Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 1.5%

Shift premium: $0.75 per hour will be paid for any regularly scheduled hours worked between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including Terry Fox Day, Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 6% after 1 year, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 3 weeks or 12% after 24 years. Maximum carry unused vacation carry over is 1 year’s entitlement. Vacation earned above this amount will be paid out.

Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked over employee’s regular work schedule of 8 hours, 10 hours or 12 hours per day respectively. Time and one half for work on statutory holidays. Employee may bank up to 80 hours of overtime per year; any hours not taken by year-end will be paid out.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums.

Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer will match employee’s contribution to municipal employees pension benefits plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of father, mother, brother, sister, husband, wife, son, daughter, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, step parent, grandparent, grandchild, legal guardian, ward. Further paid or unpaid leave may be approved depending on extenuating circumstances.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay at time and one-half (employee will work minimum of 1 hour).

Probationary period: 120 actual days worked.

Severance: Employees will be provided notice or severance (or combination) per Manitoba Employment Standards. Employer can either allow employee to work out notice period or pay wages in lieu of notice for same number of weeks or combination of both.

Safety shoes: $150 per year, carryover allowed, maximum $300, for boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Personal protective equipment and clothing will be provided to employees. Replacement of protective equipment and clothing will be provided upon employee turning in unsafe equipment and clothing.

Sample rates of pay (current, after 1.5% increase):

Airport equipment operator 1: $26.39 rising 1 step to $26.79

Airport equipment operator 2: $26.96 rising 1 step to $27.36

Airport equipment operator 3: $27.57 rising 1 step to $27.98

Airport equipment operator 4: $28.14 rising 1 step to $28.56

Baggage handler 1: $20 rising 1 step to $20.30

Baggage handler 2: $20.57 rising 1 step to $20.88

Baggage handler 3: $21.16 rising 1 step to $21.48

Editor’s notes: Training/certification: Employer will ensure employees receive training and certification as required by provincial workplace safety and health regulations, and any other required regulations. Standby: Employee on standby (with pager) will receive 2 hours of regular pay for each 24-hour period (pro rata for less than 24 hours). Floaters/sick-day provisions: Employer will provide 4 floating holidays per year, to be taken as sick days or at time mutually agreed upon. Floaters may be accumulated, maximum 16 days. Floaters will be paid out when employee has: accumulated more than maximum 16 days or been discharged for just cause and not reinstated. Licensing: Employer will pay for cost of licenses required for employee to perform job.
