Wage adjustments:
Effective Aug. 28, 2019: 1% less $0.10
Effective first Sunday of July 2020: increase of Alberta all-items CPI calculated over period from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of prior year (2019)
Effective first Sunday of July 2021: increase of Alberta all-items CPI calculated over period from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of prior year (2020)
Effective first Sunday of July 2022: increase of Alberta all-items CPI) calculated over period from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of prior year (2021)
Shift premium: $1.20 per hour for employees who work scheduled shifts which start between 4 p.m. and 5 a.m. $1 per hour above highest classification supervised for lead-hands. $2 per hour above highest classification supervised for foremen. $3 per hour above highest classification supervised for general foremen.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus 4% of straight-time rate for all hours worked.
Vacations with pay: 6% of straight-time rate for all hours worked; 8% after 10 years of service.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, Sunday through Saturday inclusive for general long-term work. Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday inclusive and for all hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays or statutory holidays for short-term projects work.
Medical benefits: Employer will pay $1.70 per hour into Operating Engineers Local 955 Health and Wellness Trust Fund.
Pension: Employer will pay 10% per hour of employee’s base rate of pay for each hour worked by each employee into Operating Engineers Local 955 Pension Trust Fund.
Bereavement leave: Maximum 24 regularly scheduled hours for death in immediate family (mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, common-law partner (regardless of gender), children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents, stepmother, stepfather, brother-in-law, sister in-law).
Call-in pay: 8 hours’ at straight-time, 3.5 hours’ overtime at relevant rate of pay for operators on scheduled days off. Time and one-half for entire shift, if employee is called-in on short notice (either 4 hours prior to shift or after shift has already started). 3 hours’ at applicable rate when employee is called-in to work on regularly assigned period of rest.
Probationary period: 400 hours.
Uniforms/clothing: When employee works in rain, rainwear will be supplied. All employees will be supplied with gloves. Operators will be issued coveralls for use when required (employees employed in welding trade will receive better quality of coveralls, leathers, as well as fire-retardant coveralls (or parkas) during winter months.). $300 tax-free per year (previously $600 per year) industrial-clothing allowance for all employees (after 6 months of service) who are employed as mechanics, welders, apprentice mechanics, apprentice welders, tire mechanics, service truck, lubricator persons, shop labourers
Tool allowance: $1.15 per hour when employer requires employees who are employed as journeyman mechanics, apprentice mechanics, welders to supply own tools. Employer will insure mechanic’s tools, toolbox at agreed value against fire and theft while on employer’s premises.
Mileage: $0.45 per kilometre (Syncrude to be calculated at 100 kilometres) if employee uses own vehicle at request of employer. $33 per day worked transportation allowance to Aurora.
