Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020. Signed on Sept. 12, 2019.
Shift premium: $20 per tour of duty for employees who are temporarily assigned to perform work at higher-rated classification than regularly assigned, within or outside bargaining unit. Talent fees (for whose regular job function does not include voicing or on-air duties and who agree to do such work for employer): Minimum $15, maximum $40 per session, for voicing commercials; $11 for hosting or performing on radio program less than 10 minutes long; $33 for hosting or performing on radio program more than 10 minutes long. $70 per hour (previously $65 per hour) for remote broadcast, live on location; $30 per hour for remote broadcast, simulated on location. $25 per appearance for on-air personalities who may be required to make personal promotional appearances on behalf of radio stations outside normal hours of work, maximum 24 times per year. $40 per hour for producers working client-rented studio session. 9% for employees assigned to perform music-director function in Stingray programming department. 9% above producer or creative writer wage rate for employees assigned to perform production- or creative-supervisor function in production or creative departments.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 1 year, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 20 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for employees required to work hours in excess of weekly hours or regular daily hours. May be taken as time off in lieu.
Meal allowance: $20 to cover cost of meal for employees who work straight 7 1/2-hour shifts and work overtime or employees who work more than 5 hours past scheduled time of last meal period.
Medical benefits: Employee pays maximum 50% of premiums for Stingray Group Insurance Plan (for broadcasting employees). Employees may get covered for life insurance, STD, LTD, extended health-care, dental care, vision care, AD&D insurance.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (spouse, parent, guardian, child).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months, after 1 year of service, for resignations. 6 months to start; 12 months after 2 years of service; 24 months after 5 years of service for layoffs. 3 days for death of sister, brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, any relative currently living in employee’s household. 1 day for death of brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchild. Employee may take extra offs or vacation for death of persons not otherwise noted (death of niece, nephew, close friend).
Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ at time and one-half basic rate.
Probationary period: 6 months of continuous, uninterrupted employment with employer (time lost by probationary employees for personal or health reasons will not be counted toward completion of 6-month period) for full-time employees; 120 days work or 1 year, whichever comes first, for part-time employees. Employer may extend period by 3 months or 60 days worked for full-time employees; 1 year, whichever comes first, for part-time employees.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years.
Severance: 4 weeks of regular salary per year of service, maximum 9 months of regular salary.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer may replace or repair employee’s clothing if it was accidentally damaged as result of assignment.
Mileage: $0.50 per kilometre, or higher rate as determined by employer policy, minimum payment of $5 for each completed trip. Employer will reimburse employees for deductible amount of insurance plan, maximum $500, if employees are involved in accident resulting in damage to employee’s vehicle, and damage cannot be recovered from any other person or persons.

Editor’s notes: Job interviews: Employer will provide employees facing layoff with reasonable time off during normal work week, without loss in salary, to be interviewed for positions outside company, maximum 3 2-hour interviews per week. Educational seminars: Employees required to attend employer-approved seminar or educational course related to industry and not required to work that day will receive for that day on, scheduled workday, basic rate of pay for normal tour of duty or on scheduled day off, basic rate of pay for hours of attendance, maximum 1/5 of regular weekly hours (no overtime will be paid while employees are attending courses). Moving/relocation expenses: Employer will incur cost of moving personal effects of newly-hired employees from 1 residence to another when former residence is outside Halifax Metropolitan area. On-call: $20 per day. Employee will be provided with cellphone, shared laptop computer, be provided transportation; receive regular overtime if they are called.
