Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on Feb. 25, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective July 1, 2019: 2%

Effective July 1, 2020: 2%

Effective July 1, 2021: 2%

Shift premium: 1 additional hour of pay per shift will apply to all regularly scheduled work on Saturday and Sunday. $0.50 per hour for second shift (all hours worked on any shift between 6 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.). $0.75 per hour for third shift (all hours worked on any shift between midnight and 5:59 a.m.). $23 biweekly occupational first aid level 1; $30 biweekly for occupational first aid level 2; $37 biweekly for occupational first aid for level 3.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month to start, 3 weeks or 15 days after 1 years, 4 weeks or 20 days after 3 years, 5 weeks or 25 days after 12 years. Employees may request to carry over maximum 5 days’ vacation to following vacation year and must be taken within 24 months.

Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 overtime hours worked after normal full-time work day; double time for all hours worked after 4 overtime hours worked after normal full-time work day. Double time for all hours worked on day of rest. Employee may bank overtime, maximum 35 hours at any 1 time.

Meal allowance: Meal or reimbursement in amount established by employer for meal expenses for employee who works more than 3 hours of overtime on scheduled work day. Meal break of 1 half-hour, with pay, will be given at overtime rate.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Temporary employees with assignments of 4 months or more or accumulation of temporary service of 4 months in 12-month period, that are at least average of 17.5 hours per week, will be paid additional 7% (previously 5%) in lieu of health and welfare benefits.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $650 every 2 years (previously $500 every 2 years), including eye glasses, laser eye surgery. Employees will be reimbursed $100 every 2 years (previously $75 every 2 years) for vision exams.

Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $500 per year for chiropractor, podiatrist, massage, therapist, speech therapist, naturopath, clinical, psychologist, acupuncturist, physiotherapist. Physiotherapist: unlimited.

Sick leave: 1.5 days for each month of service, maximum accumulation of 120 days.

STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: All employees must contribute to Municipal Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (parents, spouse, common-law spouse, same-sex partner, child, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparents, grandchild, any relative who has been residing in same household).

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months.

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ at applicable overtime rate.

Probationary period: 6 months from date of hiring.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 3 years for written discipline.

Severance: 2 weeks’ pay to start; 1 additional week of pay, maximum 8 weeks, for each additional year of service after 3 years.

Editor’s notes: Employer paid union leave: Chairperson/president of bargaining unit or alternate designated by union will be granted 25% employer-paid time release from full workload per year to facilitate operation of collective agreement and employee-employer relationships. Cost will be borne by employer as general operating expense. Medical certificates: When employer requests medical certificates, employer will pay costs of certificates. Prior learning assessment (PLA) fund: Employer will deposit $2,000 in PLA fund per year; union will deposit $1,200 per year to establish PLA fund. Unused funds will be transferred to career development fund each year. Special leave: Employee may apply for 1 day of paid special leave for marriage of employee; to attend wedding of employee’s child; for serious household or domestic emergency; moving household furniture and effects; to attend employee’s formal hearing to become Canadian citizen; to attend funeral as pallbearer or mourner; for religious holidays observed by employee. Maximum 3 days’ special leave for all causes per year. Hearing aids: Maximum $1,000 every 3 years. Parking: Employer will provide parking for employees at each site.
