Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2022. Ratified in February 2020. Signed on Feb. 6, 2020.
Wage adjustments:
Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.5%
Shift premium: $1 per hour for hours worked after 8 p.m. $7.50 for branch concierge who is assigned to open or close branch due to unplanned absence. $10 for each day when employee who is assigned responsibility of manager when branch manager is away from branch for 1 full day or more and when no other manager has been assigned to cover for branch manager.
Paid holidays: 14 days including 2 personal days.
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 2 years, 4 weeks after 5 years, 5 weeks after 13 years, 6 weeks after 20 years, 7 weeks after 29 years.
Overtime: Time-and-one-half for all hours worked in excess of 7.5 hours in 1 day for full-time employees and in excess of 36 hours in 1 week for part-time employees. Time-and-one-half for hours worked on statutory holiday.
Meal allowance: $10 for employees required to work more than 2 hours beyond end of regularly scheduled full-time shift.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for comprehensive medical benefit plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan at current ODA schedule of fees.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums under health plan.
Sick leave: 10.8 hours per months after 3 months’ service, maximum of 1,296 hours.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for LTD plan.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $50,000.
Pension: Employees contribute either 1%, 2%, or 3% of regular straight-time earnings to Canadian credit union employees pension plan as provided by CUMIS Life Insurance Company. Employer contributes double contribution of employees hired on or before June 1, 2001. Employer matches contribution of employees added to payroll after June 1, 2001.
Bereavement leave: 5 paid days for death of parent, stepparent, spouse, child, stepchild, sibling, grandchild, parent-in-law. 3 paid days for death of niece, nephew, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, sibling-in-law. 2 paid days for death of aunt or uncle.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoff; 24 months (or equal to months employed if less than 12 months) for employee off work due to sickness or accident.
Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay.
Probationary period: 3 months for permanent full-time employees. 432 hours worked for permanent part-time employees.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for all documentation with respect to discipline.
Severance: Permanent employee with at least 3 years of continuous service who is laid off for 6 months due to more efficient operations, change or elimination of process, or lack of business, will be entitled to severance pay of 2 weeks’ pay for each year of service up to 26 weeks. Anyone electing to receive such severance pay will forfeit recall rights.
Uniforms/clothing: Employees required to wear NCU clothing will receive interest-free loan up to $1,000.

Editor’s notes: Holiday hours: Closing hours for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when worked, will be 3:00 p.m. Lunch periods for employees will be reduced to one-half hour on such days. Travel time: When employee is required by employer to attend mandatory meeting or training at location more than 50 kilometres away from normal work location, travel to meeting will not be considered time worked however, travel time — calculated on basis of kilometres required to be travelled divided by 90 kilometres per hour — will be paid to employee at regular straight-time rate.
