Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2018, to April 30, 2021. Signed on June 19, 2018.
Shift premium: 15% for employees working on second, third shifts. $3 for foremen.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 10% of total wages for vacation, holiday pay.
Overtime: Double time for all work in excess of normal working hours Monday through Friday. Double time for all work on Saturday, Sunday or on holiday which is not paid holiday.
Meal allowance: Adequate meals will be supplied by employer when employer works more than 2 hours of overtime beyond regular 8 hours. Meals will be supplied after each further 4 hours of overtime. $20 when meals cannot be provided.
Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $2.25 per hour to Millwrights Local 1178 Benefit Trust Funds.
Pension: Employer will contribute $2.25 per hour to Millwrights Local 1178 Benefit Trust Funds (composed of 18% of hourly rate and vacation and holiday allowance). Effective May 1, 2019: $7.70 per hour. Effective May 1, 2020: $7.74 per hour.
Call-in pay: Paid at applicable overtime rate but not less than 4 hours’ straight time.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply approved safety helmets, other safety equipment and, when necessary, rain suits and rubber boots. Employer will supply, when necessary, acid-protective clothing, safety glasses, welding gloves, hat liner. Employer will supply coveralls on repair work. Employer will supply necessary protective clothing or coveralls for abnormally corrosive maintenance, revamp and repair work in which employee’s clothing may be abnormally or permanently damaged. Employees’ clothes, if burned in quarters provided by employer, will be replaced, maximum $100.
Mileage: $0.55 per kilometre when employee moves from shop to job, job to job, or from job to shop within working day if employee uses own vehicle at employer’s request.

Major industrial work: $53.77 rising 1 step to $54.27
All other work: $50.66 rising 1 step to $51.16
Millwright apprentice (major industrial work)
First year 60%: $33.13 rising 2 steps to $33.43
Second year 70%: $38.28 rising 2 steps to $38.63
Third year 80%: $43.64 rising 2 steps to $44.04
Fourth year 90%: $48.63 rising 2 steps to $49.08
Millwright apprentice (all other work)
First year 60%: $31.25 rising 2 steps to $31.55
Second year 70%: $36.10 rising 2 steps to $36.45
Third year 80%: $40.90 rising 2 steps to $41.30
Fourth year 90%: $46.03 rising 2 steps to $46.48
Editor’s notes: Commuting allowance: $0 for 0 to 59.9 kilometres; $38.50 for 60 to 79.9 kilometres; $49.50 for 80 to 99.9 kilometres. Board allowance: Effective May 1, 2019: $127 per day worked (previously $125 per day worked). Effective May 1, 2020: $129 per day worked (will only apply after employee has travelled 100 kilometres). Millwrights training fund: Employer will contribute $1 per hour to training fund for major industrial work. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $1 per hour to industry-improvement fund for major industrial work. Promotion fund: Employer will contribute $0.10 per hour to promotion fund for major industrial work.
