Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. Ratified in April 2020. Signed on April 1, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2020: $0.55 per hour

Effective April 1, 2021: Wage opener (subject to rounding as result of $0.55 hourly wage increase for 2020)

Effective April 1, 2022: Wage opener (subject to rounding as result of $0.55 hourly wage increase for 2020)

Shift premium: $1.50 per hour foe employees required to work in environment that requires protective clothing, breathing apparatus or removal of asbestos. 5% for lead-hands on jobsite where foreman is not regularly available. 10% for foreman 1; 15% for foreman 2.

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: 10% to start, 12% after 10 years, 13% after 15 years, 14% after 20 years. Vacation periods will be arranged by mutual agreement between employer and employee.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work performed on Saturdays, statutory holidays, and any hours in excess of 44 in workweek. Double time for all work performed on Sundays.

Medical benefits: CLAC Health Fund.

LTD: Employees pay 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer and employee both contribute to CLAC DC pension plan.

Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours’ pay for working on service call outside regular hours of work. Minimum 4 hours’ pay for weekend service calls.

Mileage: $45 per day for employees who travel minimum of 60 kilometres from residence to jobsite; $50 per day for employees who travel minimum of 135 kilometres from residence (new); $55 per day for employees who travel minimum of 200 kilometres from their (previously $50); $60 per day for employees who travel minimum of 400 kilometres from residence (previously $55); $75 per day for employees who are required to travel by air to jobsite. 8 hours’ pay for 1-way travel to any site beyond 750 kilometres from employee’s place of residence. When jobsite lies outside 135-kilometre radius from employee’s residence, accommodation will be guaranteed. Full cost of transportation for employees who use public transit.

Sample current rates of pay:

Journeyperson: $39.92

Electrician apprentices

First-period: 40% of journeyperson’s rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits)

Second-period: 50% of journeyperson’s rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits)

Third-period: 60% of journeyperson’s rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits)

Fourth-period: 70% of journeyperson’s rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits)

Fifth-period: 80% of journeyperson’s rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits)

Editor’s notes: First-aid certificate: Employer will pay $100 for completion of first-aid certificate, including renewal and new certifications in effect for at least 24 months. Parking fees: Employer will reimburse employees for parking fees incurred for parking at sites where free parking is not readily available. Employer will reimburse employee, maximum $10 per day, in-lieu of reimbursed parking fees and where employee elects to use public means of ground transit, commercial ride-sharing service or taxi service. Education and assistance fund: Employer will contribute $0.20 per hour to union’s education and assistance fund. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.08 per hour to union’s industry fund.
