Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2022. Signed on Feb. 5, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective May 1, 2019: 1.5%

Effective May 1, 2020: 1.5%

Effective May 1, 2021: 1.5%

Shift premium: $0.30 per hour for all hours worked on evening or night shift; for employees required to rotate between 2 or more shifts. $9 per shift for employee required to be in charge of building and unable to leave premises. $0.20 per hour for all hours worked between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Sunday.

Paid holidays: 12 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 23 years, 7 weeks or 4% after 25 years. Almonte only: 2 weeks or 4% to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 2 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 6 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 12 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of 7.5 in 1 shift and 75 hours biweekly. Time and one-half for all hours worked on statutory holiday.

Meal allowance: Any employee required to work extra continuous 2 hours of overtime at end of shift will be provided with meal.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 9.5% per month, employee pays 3.5% per month into UFCW benefit trust fund (previously employer pays 9% per month, employee pays 3.25% per month).

Dental: Employer pays $0.41 per hour into UFCW trusteed dental plan (Ontario).

Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum of 20 days for full-time employees on staff as of Oct. 5, 1986; 1 day per month, maximum 6 days for employees on staff after Oct. 5, 1986. Maximum 6 days for part-time employees. Almonte only: Maximum 12 days for full-time employees, part-time employees.

Pension: Employer pays $0.69 per hour into Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan (previously employer pays $0.59 per hour).

Bereavement leave: 5 calendar days for death of parent, spouse, sibling, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, child-in-law, stepchild, relative who has been residing in same household. 3 calendar days for death of stepparent, sibling-in-law, stepsibling, spouse’s grandparent. 1 day for funeral of aunt, uncle, niece, or nephew. Almonte only: 5 days for death of stepparent; 1 day for funeral of aunt-in-law or uncle-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months. If employee is absent on long-term leave longer than 1 year, temporary position will be re-posted as permanent vacancy. When employee returns to active employment, employee will utilize bumping rights to be reinstated in accordance with seniority.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours’ pay at overtime rate for call-in after leaving work. When employee is called in as replacement one-half hour before or after start of shift and attends within 1 hour of call, employee will be paid for full scheduled shift. Any legitimate complaint in connection with distribution of call-ins will be adjusted by providing employee with 1 extra shift equal to those hours of lost call-in within 4-week period of complaint.

Probationary period: Sooner of 60 shifts worked or 4 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for written disciplinary warnings.

Uniforms/clothing: $100 per year for full-time; $50 per year for part-time to be paid May 1 of each year.

Mileage: $0.42 per kilometre for use of personal vehicles for business purposes.

Editor’s notes: Weather: In event of serious snow storm or ice storm, employees who report late, but within 2 hours of scheduled starting time, will be paid for full scheduled shift. Scheduling: No employees will work more than 7 consecutive days on, with 2 consecutive days off. Employer will attempt to schedule 5 consecutive days on with 2 consecutive days off with at least 1 weekend off in 2 weeks for full-time employees. Professional development: Any employee required by employer to take professional development course will have fee for course paid for by employer. If attendance is during working hours, time spent will be paid for by employer as though employee was at work. If course requires travel, employer will provide gas money or transportation. Education and training fund: Employer will pay $500 on Dec. 1 of each year of collective agreement to UFCW Education and Training Fund. In-service (Almonte Country Haven only): Employees attending 4 or more in-service sessions in calendar year will be paid $5 for each session attended, except when employee attends during working hours.
