Contract negotiations fall apart over pension plan discussions
Thunder Bay, Ont. Bombardier workers are on strike after negotiations for a new contract have failed, their union says.
“Negotiations fell apart over demands for cuts to the pension plan, particularly for new workers,” the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union said in a press release.
The 700 workers have been without a contract since May 31.
The Thunder Bay plant manufactures bi-level rail cars, street cars and subway cars, including those contracted by the City of Toronto for its subway and light rail services.
