Food, beverage workers return to union status: Unifor
Employees at Parq Casino in Vancouver — represented by Unifor, Local 3000 — ratified a new three-year contract on Feb. 21, that includes securing unionized jobs, making key gains in wages and addressing harassment.
"Parq Casino workers now have the best wage scale in the B.C. casino sector," said Deb Tveit, assistant to the Unifor national president.
Local 3000 had been negotiating with the Parq Casino (formerly the Edgewater Casino) since November 2017, said the union.
The new contract finalizes some outstanding food and beverage issues as well as seeing all gaming floor food and beverage service return to unionized positions with Unifor, according to the union.
