Renewal agreement: Effective Feb. 1, 2018 to Jan. 31, 2021. Ratified on July 7, 2018. Signed on Oct. 31, 2018.
Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $0.70 per hour (previously $0.65 per hour) for all hours worked between 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. $1 per hour (previously $0.95 per hour) for all hours worked between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. $1.20 per hour for all hours worked on continental shift. $2 per hour for lead-hand/relief supervisor. $1 per hour more than certified electrician and milling certified millwright rate of pay for licensed industrial electrician/milling-certified millwright. $1.20 per hour to all employees working 12-hour continental shifts. $1.20 per hour to all employees working night shifts.
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus Dec. 24, Dec. 31; 1 floating holiday in lieu of Remembrance Day.
Vacations with pay: 0.83 days per month to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 12 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 18 years. Employee cannot accumulate vacation from 1 calendar year to another.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Time and one-half for all work on Saturday for employees not working in continental shift arrangement. Time and one-half for work on first scheduled day off or all work after 8 or 12 hours per day for employees working in continental shift arrangement (milling department). Double time for all work on Sunday for employees not working in continental shift arrangement. Double time for all work on second scheduled day off for employees in a continental shift arrangement (milling department).
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of cost of Ontario Employer Health Tax.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Maximum coverage $1,400 per year (previously $1,200 per year).
Vision: $300 (previously $280) for employee, spouse every 24 months. $220 for each dependant every 12 months for eyeglass lenses and frames (or contact lenses or laser eye surgery, selected in place of lenses and frames).
Paramedical: $20 per visit, $200 per year.
Sick leave: 2 days per year (if employee doesn’t use any sick time, 1 more day will be granted). Maximum 3 days total for length of collective agreement. Full payout of unused days at end of year.
Life insurance: Coverage of $60,000 (previously $55,000).
Pension: Pension Plan for Unionized Employees of P&H Milling Group, for employees hired before March 27, 2011. Employees will contribute 6% into plan. Employees hired after March 27, 2011 must join group RRSP after 1 year of employment. Employee must contribute minimum 1% of regular earnings to plan. Employer will match employee’s contributions, maximum 4%. Employees who are a member of pension plan may contribute to group RRSP but will not receive company contributions.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, child, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, stepparents, stepchildren, brother, sister. 3 days for death of mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. 1 day for any relative who has been residing in same household. 1 day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, cousin or to perform function of pallbearer. 1 additional day for funeral outside radius of 400 kilometres from Cambridge.
Call-in pay: 1 and one-half times normal rate of pay for all hours worked, minimum 2 hours of pay.
Probationary period: 90 calendar days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for written disciplinary warnings (including suspensions).
Safety shoes: $170 per year (previously $155 per year) to all employees who are required to wear safety shoes at date of ratification.
Uniforms/clothing: All employees are required to wear uniforms which will be provided and laundered by employer. Appropriate outer wear will be provided as applicable.

Editor’s notes: Maintenance pager: $40 bonus (10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday); another $40 bonus for maintenance personnel who carry pagers (10 p.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday). Hearing aids: Employer will pay $300 (previously $200) for hearing aids every 5 years for employee only. UFCW training, education fund: Employer will pay $525 per year to UFCW training and education fund for life of agreement 2 weeks after ratification and each subsequent year on Feb. 1. Milling-certified millwright: Employer will set up Buhler training for millwright mechanics. All costs will be paid by employer. Successful participants will receive $2-per-hour upgrade and be categorized as milling-certified millwright. Charity fund: Employer will deduct from earnings of each employee — upon written authorization from each employee — $0.50 per week to UFCW Charity Fund before 15th day of following month.
