Renewal agreement: Effective June 30, 2019 to June 30, 2020. Signed on April 4, 2019.

Paid holidays: 9 days.

Vacations with pay: 144 hours after 1 year. Employee may carry unused time over to following year, maximum 16 hours (1 shift).

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of employee’s regular scheduled hours of work either immediately preceding or subsequent to regular shift or on day of rest. Employee may receive overtime compensation in leave rather than pay, maximum 16 hours of compensatory leave to each employee per year.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 60% of premiums, employee pays 40% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums.

Sick leave: 10 hours per calendar month, maximum 358 hours (previously maximum 288 hours). Employee who is terminated, laid off or resigns, will not be paid for unused sick-leave credits.

LTD: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3% of regular pay.

Pension: Employer will match employee’s contribution, maximum 3% of employee’s wages, to pension plan.

Bereavement leave: 2 consecutive scheduled shifts for death in immediate family (spouse (common-law partner) parent, child, sister, brother, grandparent, grandchild, parent-in-law, other relative or person with whom employee has experienced very close relationship ordinarily ascribed to that of immediate family member). Upon request, employer may grant additional unpaid leave.

Call-in pay: Overtime pay at time and one-half straight-time rate, minimum 3 hours, or pay for all hours worked, whichever is greater.

Probationary period: 12 months.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 30 months.

Safety shoes: Maximum $200 per year to employees who are required to wear safety footwear. All safety boots will be CSA approved.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 2% increase):

New recruit wage: $43.96 rising 1 step to $44.84

12 months: $45.96 rising 1 step to $46.88

24 months: $47.96 rising 1 step to $48.92

30 months: $48.71 rising 1 step to $49.68

Editor’s notes: Proof of illness: Medical certificate may be required for any period of sick leave exceeding 2 consecutive scheduled shifts or prior to employee’s return to work following absence of 30 days. Cost of medical certificate required by employer under provision will be reimbursed to employee. Parking: Employer will provide parking (with electrical plug-ins) at no cost to employees provided employer receives same from Wabush Airport. Northern allowance: $4,000 per year. Vacation-travel allowance: Employer will pay $1,250 for each employee, $1,000 for spouse and each dependent of employee, on April 1 of each year. PSAC Social Justice Fund: Employer will contribute $0.01 per hour worked to PSAC Social Justice Fund.
