Renewal agreement: Effective Feb. 1, 2020 to Jan. 31, 2025. Signed on April 21, 2020.
Shift premium: $0.25 per hour for beginner steward; $0.50 per hour for toolbox 1 completion steward; $0.75 per hour for toolbox 2 completion steward; $1 per hour for toolbox 3 completion steward.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 2 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
Medical benefits: CLAC Health and Welfare Trust Fund.
Dental: 100% reimbursement, up to $2,000 per person per year for basic services; 50% reimbursement, up to $2,000 per person per year for major services: 50% reimbursement, up to $3,000 lifetime maximum per child under 19 for orthodontic.
Vision: $300 per year for younger than 21; $300 every two years for 21 and older.
Paramedical: $50 per visit, doctor’s referral required, for massage therapy.
Sick leave: 3 days per year (days cannot be rolled over).
AD&D: Coverage of $150,000.
Life insurance: Coverage of $150,000.
Pension: RSP Plan administered by CLAC Health and Welfare Trust Fund. Employer will contribute $2.90 per hour rising 4 steps to $3.50 per hour.
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse or child. 3 days for death of parents, grandparents, parents-in-law, grandparents-in-law, brother, sister, grandchild.
Probationary period: 90 working days.
Uniforms/clothing: Safety equipment (hard hats, glasses, hearing protection, rubber boots), gloves, slickers, coveralls, underground equipment (belts, lamps, mine rescuers) will be supplied by employer.
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after $2-per-hour increase):
Group 1: $27.50 rising 4 steps to $29.50
Group 2: $26.50 rising 4 steps to $28.50
Group 3: $22.50 rising 4 steps to $24.50
Editor’s notes: Education fund: Employer agrees to contribute $0.03 per hour for all hours worked by all employees to education and training fund. Daily subsistence allowance: $100 per day (previously $55 per day).
