Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2024. Signed on May 9, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective March 1, 2022: 1%

Effective May 1, 2022: 1%

Effective May 1, 2023: 1%

Paid holidays: 10 days.

Vacations with pay: Employees will be entitled to 4% of base rate as vacation pay.

Medical benefits: Employees will be entitled to 3% of base rate, in lieu of benefits.

Sick leave: 12 hours per academic term.

Bereavement leave: Employee will be granted time off for leave of absence with pay from 1 to 5 consecutive business days, depending on circumstances, to travel or attend to arrangements associated with death of family member, close relative, elder of employee.

Probationary period: 1 academic term. Employer may extend period to second academic term.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for disciplinary letters; 12 months upon employee’s graduation from program at Queen’s University.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply personal protective equipment and other devices that employer requires employees to wear or utilize.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 1% increase):

Teaching assistant: $40.73 rising 1 step to $41.14

Research assistant: $40.73 rising 1 step to $41.14

Sample rates of pay per regular 0.5-course (current, after 1% increase):

Teaching fellow: $8,084 rising 1 step to $8,165

Editor’s notes: Joint health and safety committee: Time spent attending meetings of committee or carrying out duties as employee representative will be considered time worked and paid at appropriate rate. Mental wellbeing: Employer will pay union 1-time lump sum payment of $120,000 to support mental health, psychological safety and wellbeing of employees.
