Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31 2024. Signed on Jan. 31, 2022.
Shift premium: $0.30 per hour for employee holding first-aid certificate recognized under the workers’ compensation board regulations who carries out duties of first-aid attendant, class C.
Paid holidays: 11 days.
Vacations with pay: 10 days or 4% after 1 year, 15 days or 6% after 5 years, 20 days or 8% after 10 years, 25 days or 10% after 15 years, 30 days or 12% after 21 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for employee who works more than 40 hours per week or 8 hours per day.
Meal allowance: Paid time off at applicable overtime rate to eat at some point within overtime shift when employee works more than 2 hours of overtime.
Sick leave: 1 half-day per month, maximum 30 days.
Pension: Employer will contribute $2.80 per hour (previously $2.65 per hour) into Teamsters National Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of parent, spouse, brother, sister, child, parent-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandparents, grandchildren, which include spouse’s grandparents, grandchildren. 2 travel days should employee travel more than 500 kilometres round-trip to attend funeral services.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for absence due to illness or accident or after layoff.
Probationary period: 45 calendar days.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for disciplinary documentation; 24 months for discipline imposed for reasons of harassment, bullying, other similar infractions of abuse.
Safety shoes: Employer will provide for 1 pair of safety boots once every year, maximum $165 (previously $160). Effective Jan. 1, 2024. $170 per year.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will issue raingear to be used on company property during scheduled work hours for employees who are regularly scheduled to work outdoors (reach stacker, yard truck driver, charge-hand).
Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after $0.75-per-hour increase):
Container examination facility warehouse operator: $23.13 rising 1 step to $23.88
Yard tractor operator/reach stacker: $26.15 rising 1 step to $26.90
Charge-hand: $29.34 rising 1 step to $30.09
Editor’s notes: Tests: Whenever it becomes necessary for employee to undertake tests for renewal of certifications or tickets, employer will provide appropriate equipment on employer work site. Time taken off for such purpose will be paid at employee’s straight time rate.
