Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2024. Signed on Dec. 2, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 1.5%

Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 2%

Effective Jan. 1, 2024: 2%

Shift premium: $2.50 per hour for all hours worked, including overtime hours, where half or more of hours are regularly scheduled between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Paid holidays: 11 days, including Nunavut Day. In communities where Hamlet Day is designated municipal holiday, employees may take one half-day (4 hours) to participate in events.

Vacations with pay: 16.5 days to start, 21.5 days after 2 years, 25 days after 6 years, 30 days after 12 years, 35 days after 20 years. Unused vacation greater than 35 days as of Dec. 31 of each calendar year will be paid out during third pay period of following year.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time after 4 hours of work.

Meal allowance: Meal or meal allowance equivalent to duty travel dinner meal rate for employee who works 3 or more hours of overtime in employee’s home community immediately before or following scheduled hours of work.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 1.25 days for each month for which they receive pay for at least 10 days.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, spouse, child, stepchild, ward of employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, relative residing in employee’s household). Additional 3 days special leave to travel. 1 day for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, any person after whom employee is named, either formally or by custom; additional 1 day to attend funeral, if needed. 4 hours to attend funeral of elder in employee’s community or to perform duties of pallbearer at funeral in employee’s community.

Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at applicable overtime rate or 3 hours’ pay at time and one-half for any time worked.

Probationary period: 6 calendar months after taking up duties of position.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for document or written statements related to disciplinary action.

Severance: 2 weeks of pay for each of first and second years of service; 1 weeks of pay for each succeeding year of service, maximum 30 weeks of pay.

Uniforms/clothing: $1,300 per year (inclusive of GST and shipping) for authorized personal protective clothing from list of personal protective clothing which is authorized for purchase.

Editor’s notes: Bilingual bonus: $1,500 per year where employer designates that employee is required to use 2 or more of official languages in Nunavut. Winter bonus days: 1 winter bonus day for every 5 consecutive days of annual leave which they use between Oct. 1 of 1 year and March 31 of next year, maximum 4 winter bonus days in any 1 fiscal year. Childcare expenses: Employees will be reimbursed, maximum $50 per day per child, if employee must travel on behalf of employer and incurs childcare expenses which exceed those which would have normally been incurred.
