Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug. 31, 2021. Ratified on Oct. 1, 2019. Signed on Oct. 9, 2019.
Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for employee who works split shift. $77.77 plus $30.30 for each 1.0 FTE increment, or fractional portion of increment, resulting from combined FTE of all caretakers who report to head caretaker, for monthly basic allowance for head caretaker. $74.29 per month for building operator’s licence (only in positions where required). $734.92 per month supplementary allowance for master electrician. $505 per month for maintenance 2 position designated as HVAC assistant.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus Easter Monday or first Monday of spring break and Dec. 24 or last working day before Christmas Day.
Vacations with pay: 1 1/4 working days for each month worked to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 14 years, 6 weeks after 20 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time after 4 hours of overtime. May be taken as time off in lieu.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care, ASEPB (Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan) extended health care, plan 1. Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP extended disability, plan D. Employer will provide $550 per year for health spending account.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEPB dental care, plan 3.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP vision care, plan 3.
Sick leave: 2 days for each month of service, maximum 24 days in any 1 year. Unused credits may be accumulated, maximum 120 days.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ASEBP life insurance, plan 2.
Pension: Every eligible employee will participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of near relative (parent, spouse, sibling, child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparent, grandchild); 5 days when funeral is held more than 400 kilometres away from Red Deer. 1 day for death of close friend, aunt, uncle, first cousin, niece, nephew, other relatives who may have been member of employee’s household at time of death.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 2 hours at overtime rate or actual time worked at overtime rate, whichever is greater.
Probationary period: 1,040 paid hours.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for adverse reports, letters of reprimand, disciplinary reports, letters of suspension.
Severance: 5 days after 3 months of service; 10 days after 2 years of service; 20 days after 4 years of service; 25 days after 6 years of service; 30 days after 8 years of service; 40 days after 10 years of service.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide quantity of coveralls for use by employees, with laundry provided. Employer will pay $60 per year for protective clothing.

Editor’s notes: Standby: $25 per day for all days on standby between Monday to Friday. $50 per day for employee on standby on Saturdays, Sundays, statutory holidays. Any on-site work done during standby will be compensated at overtime rates, minimum 2 hours for each callout. Maximum 7 days on standby. Longevity pay: $125 after 15 years of service; additional $50 for each year after 15 years of service. Will be paid in lump sum by Dec. 15 of each year, maximum bonus paid to any employee will be $1,025. Travel-expense reimbursement: $75 per month when regular work assignment requires travel between 2 or more sites — located more than one-half kilometre from one another — by employee’s own vehicle.
