Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022. Signed on July 1, 2018.

Shift premium: $0.60 per hour for all hours worked on second shift (any shift starting at 2 p.m. or any later time up to 10 p.m.). $0.70 per hour for all hours worked on third shift (any shift starting at 10 p.m. or any later time up to 6 a.m.). $0.60 per hour (previously $0.50 per hour) for all hours worked on regularly rotating first, second, third shifts. $1.10 per hour (previously $1 per hour) for all hours worked on schedules supporting continuous operations.

Paid holidays: 10 days, plus last work day before Christmas Day, last work day before New Year’s Day, floater day (to be declared by employer).

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 20 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 30 years. After 30, 35, 40 years of service employee will receive 1-time payment of 1 week’s pay.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day, double time after 12 hours per day. Double time for all scheduled work on Saturday and Sunday (provided employee worked 40 hours per week). Time and one-half for employees on schedules supporting continuous operations for all hours worked on employee’s scheduled day off (providing employee works majority of hours on each of days of normal schedule in that work week). Time may be banked, maximum 24 hours per year.

Meal allowance: $10 if employee works 2 hours in excess of regular daily work hours and is otherwise not eligible for double-time pay.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for plan equivalent to Manulife or equivalent carrier (semi-private).

Dental: Orthodontic: lifetime maximum $2,000.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $200 per 24-month period for employee, dependants. Employer will reimburse employee for 1 eye examination every 24 months, maximum $75.

Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3% of regular weekly earnings. Employees with 23 years of service will receive 70 per cent of regular weekly earnings.

LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 60% of employee’s straight-time hourly rate multiplied by 173, payable each month after 180 days of disability.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 1 times base salary (previously $44,000).

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (parents, sister, brother, spouse, children, grandparent, grandchildren, mother-in-law, father-in-law). Employees who work 12-hour shifts will receive 36 hours’ pay if absent for 3 days. Employees who work 8.5-hour shift will receive 25.5 hours’ pay if absent for 3 days. Employees who work 8-hour shift will receive 24 hours’ pay if absent for 3 days. 1 day for death of brother-in-law, sister-in-law of if employee will not be able to attend funeral of member of immediate family.

Seniority – recall rights: 2 years to start; 3 years after 5 years of service.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours’ pay for each call-in at time and one-half.

Probationary period: 13 weeks within 6-month period.

Severance: 1 1/2 week’s regular non-overtime wages per year of service, maximum 30 weeks.

Safety shoes: $175 per year (previously $150 per year) for mandatory safety footwear.

Uniforms/clothing: When employer requires safety glasses to be worn, they will be provided for by employer (prescription, non-prescription). Work gloves will be provided by employer and will be replaced when required.

Maintenance vehicle mechanic: $37.10 rising 3 steps to $39.18

40 kg icing operator/Rovema operator/bulk-liquid loader/central-process operator/truck operator/yard service: $34.60 rising 3 steps to $36.53

Centrifugal operator/general maintenance: $34.03 rising 3 steps to $35.93

Lab attendant: $33.67 rising 3 steps to $35.55

1/4-kilo operator/2 kg SIG operator/IBC operator/Ropak operator A/material handler: $33.23 rising 3 steps to $35.09

Second-floor operator/valve-pack operator/warehouse attendant: $33 rising 3 steps to $34.85

1 kg 500 gm icing operator/packaging-utility operator/utility operator: $32.74 rising 3 steps to $34.58

Raw-sugar operator/blender operator: $32.04 rising 3 steps to $33.84

Payloader operator/10-kilo operator/40 kg brown operator: $31.79 rising 3 steps to $33.57

Process support: $30.09 rising 3steps to $31.77

Student rate: $17.06 rising 3steps to $18.02

Editor’s notes: First-aid course: Employee, who is requested to take first-aid course on own time, will be reimbursed 2 hours’ pay for each attendance that is 16 hours maximum per course.
