Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2021 to Dec. 31, 2024. Signed on Sept. 6, 2022.

Wage adjustments:

Effective Jan. 1, 2021: 2%

Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 2%

Effective Jan. 1, 2023: 2%

Effective Jan. 1, 2024: 2%

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for employees working between 6 p.m. and midnight. $0.75 per hour for work between midnight and 6 a.m. $0.60 per hour for employees working on Sundays when Sunday is included in regularly scheduled workweek. $0.50 per 15-minute period for normal work hours for any transit run not being completed within 9 hours beginning of work. $1 per hour for operating track vehicle when compactor is not available for use and track vehicle or open-cab vehicle is required to be used as replacement. $1 per hour for time worked instructing Aquafit classes.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 6% after 1 year, 4 weeks or 8% after 5 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 14 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 20 years, 7 weeks or 14% after 25 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work performed by employees after normal working day or normal workweek. Double time for Sunday work not included in regularly scheduled normal workweek; work performed on statutory holidays; hours worked after 11-hour split shift; all hours worked after 3 hours of overtime. Employee will be allowed to accumulate maximum 120 hours overtime from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of any year (unused time will be allowed to carry forward to end of March of following year and if not used, will be paid out).

Meal allowance: $20 for employee who works more than 2 hours of overtime contiguous with regular shift.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Medical Services Plan of B.C. (MSP) and extended health care plan.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: $600 (previously $500) for glasses or for corrective eye surgery every 24 months per family member.

Sick leave: 1.5 days per month, cumulative up to 120 days.

Pension: Monthly contributions to Municipal Pension Plan will be shared by employer and employees

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, brothers, sisters, stepbrothers, stepsisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, spouse, common-law-spouse, children, stepchildren, in-law parents, grandparents, grandchildren and current stepparents of employee.

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months after layoffs.

Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours at regular rates of pay or for actual time worked at applicable overtime rates, whichever is greater.

Probationary period: 90 days actually worked from date of hiring.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 36 months for warning and discipline letters.

Safety shoes: When employee is required to wear safety footwear, employer will reimburse employee maximum $400 every 24-month period for CSA-approved steel-toed or safety boots.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply suitable uniforms to bus drivers. $150 per year (previously $115 per year) for appropriate swimwear when employee is required to wear swimwear.

Tool allowance: $0.75 per hour to mechanics or mechanic helpers who are required to provide tools as condition of employment.

Building official supervisor/climate change and resilience coordinator/senior planner: $48.66 rising 1 step to $50.62

Building official, level 3/infrastructure analyst and team-lead/solid-waste planner/chief operator wastewater/chief operator water services/zero-waste coordinator: $46.47 rising 1 step to $48.35

Accountant/building official, level 2/business analyst, information technology/drinking water watershed protect coordinator/information-systems coordinator/parks planner/parks and trails coordinator/planner/wastewater coordinator: $44.41 rising 1 step to $46.21

Building official, level 1/engineering technologist/financial analyst/parks operations coordinator: $42.87 rising 1 step to $44.60

Building official, training position/database systems coordinator/GIS coordinator/information-systems technologist/senior instrumentation technician/senior laboratory technician: $41.39 rising 1 step to $43.06

Chief facilities operator/chief mechanic/chief operator equip and maintenance/landfill-services supervisor/payroll coordinator/senior operator/transfer-station supervisor: $39.93 rising 1 step to $41.54

Editor’s notes: Pagers: For each working day pager is carried, designated employee will be paid additional 2 hours; additional 3 hours for each non-working day. Bus passes: Employer will provide bus passes to employees and immediate family members.
