Shift premium: $0.40 per hour when majority of hours worked fall between 4 p.m. and midnight. $0.50 per hour when majority of hours worked fall between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. $0.31 per hour for employee who operates motorcycle. 5% for employee who is assigned to field training of probationary member. $75 per month for employee who is canine officer.
Paid holidays: 13 days, including National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. 1 additional floater day per year; 2 additional days after 28 years of service.
Vacations with pay: 80 hours after 1 year, 120 hours after 3 years, 160 hours after 9 years, 200 hours after 15 years, 240 hours after 21 years, 280 hours after 27 years (previously 28 years).
Overtime: Time and one-half. Time may be banked, maximum 150 overtime hours.
Meal allowance: $15 (previously $12) for employee who works 3 continuous hours in addition to regular tour of duty.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Paramedical: $700 per year (previously $650 per year) for chiropractor, osteopath, podiatrist, chiropodist, acupuncturist, naturopath.
Weekly indemnity:
Sick leave: 12 hours leave for each month of active service.
LTD: Employer will pay 100% of premiums.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of twice annual salary.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of twice annual salary.
Pension: Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of relative (spouse (including same-sex partner, common-law partner), child (including son, daughter, stepchild, stillborn child) parent, sibling, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, spouse’s grandparents, grandchildren or persons in loco parentis, current stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings).
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoff.
Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay at overtime rates.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 6 years for disciplinary record of employee relating to Police Services Act conviction; 12 months for any notice of disciplinary action concerning infractions dealt with by way of informal discipline.
Uniforms/clothing: Each employee will be provided with police uniforms. Employer will provide $250 cleaning allowance on first pay period in January of each year.

Editor’s notes: Frontline patrol allowance: Effective Jan. 1, 2023, any employee who is assigned to frontline response unit, will receive 1.5% premium of first-class constable salary. Effective Jan. 1, 2024: 3%. Stand-by: 3 hours of pay for each 24 hours until notified to stand down. Court time meal allowance: $15 (previously $12) for each meal after 4 hours in attendance. Audio-hearing aids: Maximum $1,200 every 5 years (previously $800 every 48 months). Effective Jan. 1, 2024: $1,200 every 5 years. Plainclothes reimbursement: $1,200 for employees who are required to provide and wear business attire ($1,000 for street clothes) as part of regular duties.
