Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2023. Ratified on Aug. 11, 2020. Signed on Aug. 20, 2020.

Wage adjustments:

Effective first full-pay fiscal 2020: 1%

Effective first full-pay fiscal 2021: 1.25%

Effective first full-pay fiscal 2022: 1.5%

Effective first full-pay fiscal 2023: 2%

Shift premium: $1.25 per hour (previously $1.20 per hour) for all hours worked between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. $2.50 per hour for maintenance employees holding PLC/electronic certifications or equivalency who are capable of performing required work and actually perform assigned work requiring these skills. $1.25 per hour for lead-hands.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of regular scheduled hours per day or per pay period.

Meal allowance: $7.50 for all employees who work longer than 2 hours at end of scheduled shift.

Medical benefits: All regular employees (full-time, part-time) will be entitled to applicable health and welfare benefits effective first day of month following 960 hours worked in continuous 12-month period.

Vision: Eyeglass coverage of $175 every 2 years.

Sick leave: Maximum accumulation of 56 hours per year. Employee who works complete calendar year will receive payout of 100% of accrued sick leave, provided employee has not received written warning regarding attendance in calendar year.

Pension: All new hires, as of date of ratification, will have contributions at 7% to Teamsters Pension Plan.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, parents, child, brother, sister, grandparents). 1 day for death in non-immediately family (mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepbrother, stepsister, grandparents-in-law).

Seniority – recall rights: 9 months for layoffs.

Call-in pay: Time and one-half for minimum 4 hours.

Probationary period: 180 days.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for disciplinary actions, disciplinary letters.

Severance: 1 week of pay for each year of service, maximum 10 years of service.

Safety shoes: As condition of employment, all employees will be required to wear employer-approved safety footwear: Employer will provide $125 per year (previously $110 per year) or $250 for 2 years (previously $200 for 2 years). Additional reimbursement of maximum $110 per year for safety footwear for employees who need more funding.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide and launder uniforms and aprons, where required at no cost to employee.

Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 4.8% increase):

Electrician: $38.81 rising 3 steps to $40.69

Millwright: $36.79 rising 3 steps to $38.57

Maintenance/boiler op: $33.71 rising 3 steps to $35.33

Chief engineer: $35.04 rising 3 steps to $36.73

Membrane/dryer operator: $31.67 rising 3 steps to $33.20

Membrane/dryer operator relief: $28.58 rising 3 steps to $29.96

Milk receivers/group 3: $27.83 rising 3 steps to $29.17

Group 4: $25.69 rising 3 steps to $26.93

Trade apprentices

1 to 18 months 70% of journeyman rate

19 to 24 months 80% of journeyman rate

25 to 36 months 85% of journeyman rate

37 to 42 months 90% of journeyman rate

43 + months 95% of journeyman rate

(Apprentices will remain at 95% pay rate until they receive journeyman’s status trade qualifications from Alberta Ministry of Labour).

Editor’s notes: First-aid training: Employer will have trained first-aid employees with certificates in plant and will bear cost of training. Licensing: Employer will pay cost of milk receiver’s license or pasteurizer’s license and any necessary upgrades to maintain license (if training must occur during employees’ scheduled shift, employee will not suffer loss of pay).
