Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Signed on Nov. 19, 2019.

Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for hours worked between 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.; $1 per hour for hours worked between 12 a.m. to 9 a.m. from Monday to Friday. $0.75 per hour for hours worked between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $0.75 per hour for hours worked between 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.; $1 per hour for hours worked between 12 a.m. to 7.59 a.m. from Saturday to Sunday. 10% or starting hourly rate of pay of position into which employee is acting, whichever is greater, for employee who accepts acting position outside of bargaining unit.

Paid holidays: 12 days, plus Skookum Jim Day (Discovery Day).

Vacations with pay: 1.66 days per month to start, 2 days per month after 1 year, 2.25 days per month after 5 years, 2.5 days per month after 7 years. Employees may carryover unused vacation to next year, maximum 10 days (employees with more than 10 days will be paid out excess that cannot be carried over at end of each fiscal year).

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Time and one-half for employee who stays immediately after shift. Time may banked and taken as time off in lieu, maximum 40 hours but all unused banked hours will be paid out at end of each fiscal year.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Sick leave: 0.7 of day per month. Unused credits may be carried over from 1 year to next and may be accumulated, maximum 30 sick days.

STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.

AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums.

Pension: Employer will match employee contributions into group RRSP. 2% to start (after 3 months of service); 3% after 2 years; 3%, plus $300 (previously $200) gross pay contribution, after 5 years; 3%, plus $1,200 (previously $1,000) gross pay contribution, after 10 years.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family. Maximum 3 additional days for employee who must travel out of Whitehorse.

Seniority – recall rights: 6 months for auxiliary on-call employees; 2 years for any period of sick leave, with or without pay, and whether or not employee is in receipt of LTD payments or for any period of work-related disability leave, with or without pay; 18 months for employee who accepts position with employer that is outside bargaining unit or for layoffs or for resignations.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours of pay at overtime rate for work resulting in overtime which is less than full shift.

Probationary period: 975 hours or 6 months, whichever occurs first. Period may be extended maximum 6 weeks.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for records of discipline.

Severance: 1/4 of employee’s average weekly pay for 12 months preceding date of termination, multiplied by number of years of service, less any severance bonus previously received (after 10,000 hours with employer).

Outreach coordinator

Start: $27.21 rising 3 steps to $28.66

After 1 year: $28.96 rising 3 steps to $30.51

After 2 years: $30.25 rising 3 steps to $31.87

Shelter worker

Start: $22.88 rising 3 steps to $24.10

After 1 year: $23.40 rising 3 steps to $24.65

After 2 years: $24.18 rising 3 steps to $25.47

Editor’s notes: Social justice fund: Employer will contribute $0.01 per hour worked by each employee to PSAC Social Justice Fund.
