Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 10, 2020 to Aug. 9, 2025. Ratified on Aug. 10, 2020. Signed on Aug. 10, 2020.

Shift premium: $2 per hour for each full hour worked between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Time and one-half for time worked prior to expiry of 10-hour interval for employee who is not allowed 10-hour intervals between shifts. $1 per hour for each hour worked on Sunday. Double time for work performed longer than 5 hours without meal period. $1 per hour for assistant deli manager in delicatessen department. $0.85 per hour or applicable manager rate, whichever is greater, when employee is assigned to relieve meat manager (head meat cutter) for 2 days or more in 1 week. $1 per hour for each full hour worked on float pool for meat cutters, meat clerks.

Paid holidays: 11 days.

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 8 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 13 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 18 years, 7 weeks or 14% after 23 years.

Overtime: Time and one-half for all work in excess of daily hours or basic workweek; double time after 2 hours of overtime. Compensating time off will not be given in lieu of overtime pay.

Dental: Employer will contribute $0.43 per hour, maximum $17.20 per week, for all hours paid to Alberta retail meat industry dental plan.

Vision: $200 per person every 24 months for prescription lens, frames (every 12 months for children younger than 14). Reimbursement for eye exam (maximum $60 and for corrective lenses will be combined maximum of $200) per 24-month period.

Weekly indemnity: Coverage of 70% of straight-time weekly wage.

Sick leave: 4 hours for each month of employment, maximum 208 hours after 13 weeks of service.

LTD: Coverage of 50% of weekly earning, maximum $2,000 per month (previously $1,800 per month).

Pension: Employer will contribute $1.45 per hour for all hours worked to Canadian Commercial Workers’ Industry Pension Plan (CCWIPP). Employee will contribute $0.22 per hour after 2 years of service; $0.40 per hour after 8 years of service.

Bereavement leave: 1 week for death of spouse, parent, child. Time off (to be determined by employer) for death of stepparent, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandmother, grandmother-in-law, grandfather, grandfather-in-law, grandchildren, any relative living in household of employee. 1 day to attend funeral for death of aunt, uncle, nephew, niece.

Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for discipline notices.

Severance: 1 week of pay to start; 1 week’s pay for every year of service, maximum 20 weeks, after 2 years of service for permanent store closure.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will furnish and launder smocks, cotton aprons, lugger coats for each meat cutter. Employer will furnish choice of either vinyl or cotton apron for meat, fish, deli clerks. Appropriate coats will be provided for employees when working in holding coolers or freezing units. Rubber boots will be provided for clean-up operations of meat department. Employer will provide 2 shirts to each employee upon hire and 1 replacement shirt per year.

Mileage: $0.47 per kilometre, or bus fare, when employee is transferred to another store during work shift.

Editor’s notes: Hearing aids: $350 every 4 years. Physical examinations: When employer requires employee, or applicant for employment, to take physical examination, or related examinations, doctor’s fees for examinations will be paid by employer. Medical reports:  Employer will cover full cost for report required by employer for weekly indemnity benefits, maximum $50 (maximum 3 reports related to specific claim). Education fund: Employer will contribute $0.13 per hour to UFCW, Local 401 education and training fund.
